ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Whether or not the entire movie was any good, what opening scenes did you find most memorable? I've got 2 - both had great music that perfectly set the mood for the visuals: 1. 1st Top Gun - - fighter jets taking off at dawn - - with "Danger Zone" playing in the background; and 2. Chariots of Fire - - a British track team running barefoot on the beach to Vangelis' score. Whatcha got? Quote
Augie Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Savings Private Ryan made an early impression. That was a bit more “real” than expected. Jaws took on a life of its own. 4 2 Quote

Orlando Buffalo Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 The first movie I ever saw that made me appreciate film directing, and shots was "Gangs of New York" and that first scene is extremely well done. "Saving Private Ryan" was so well done but on a whole different level Quote
Fr. Jerk Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Beer League. Artie hitting baseballs off his mom's garage then gets taunted by a punk kid but can't chase him away cause he smokes too many cigarettes. That movie really got robbed for some Oscar's, ya dig? 1 Quote

Brand J Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) SCREAM, only because I didn’t expect the story to immediately kill off what was probably one of the top names in the cast. POLTERGEIST is also memorable with its national anthem playing followed by TV static. The days television actually shut off. Edited December 28, 2024 by Brand J Quote

If there was a "B" move academy awards Beer League would be a multiple winner. As mentioned in other threads, whenever some guy orders a beer that is best served with or has the name of a fruit in it, or a white claw or similar "girlie" drink, I use the waitresses last line. 1 1 Quote
