We are concerned about who we should sit or play the last two games, but what will be the mindset for the Jets and the Pats?  Will they be tanking for better draft positions?

Our backups will beat their starters and their fans will console themselves saying their teams were just tanking

teams tank when they feel they need a QB. Pats drsfted one so they aren’t focused on tanking.

Jets on the other hand could look at drafting a QB

They took Jordan Travis from Florida State last year, but he has been on injured reserve. I would imagine he will get a good look next preseason. Rodgers if he is on the team next year won't play in preseason and they already know what they have with Tyrod Taylor.

I don’t think the Jests will tank — they’re just not very good.  If the Bills can get up by a couple of scores it could get ugly, though…

As others have noted, the Pats*** will be playing hard.  They also think they let one get away in OP last week.

Yeah, these coaches are either done like dinner or if they have a chance to stay will need wins... so unless management comes and tells them to lose... then I dont see a tank happening on the coaching side... I will say that we may see just how much the players like them based on effort... but I really dont see a tank happening..

Idk how the owner could force anyone in the organization to do it haha they will all be gone next year

So I was thinking on that... almost like when Ralph told the coaches to play Johnson over Flutie... I could see Woody saying these guts are not in our plans next year I want to see some of the younger players... or something like that... but... like putting in Tyrod for Rodgers... is not looking at a young player... but that is the only thing I can see...

players and coaches don't tank.  They are building their resume.  That does not mean you cannot jump on them and they will coast but in no way will players decide hey we should tank so the team gets a better pick for a guy to replace me next year...........

Why would the Jets tank?   How is a higher draft choice going to help anyone on the coaching staff or front office?  None of them will be there next season.

This makes zero sense

It took 5 Buffalo penalties on their last drive to get them into the end zone.  Bills were playing Elam, Bishop, Lewis, Ingram, D. Williams in the back 7 [which wasn't exactly staffed with All-pros as starters].

What do you mean? Why doesn't it make sense?

I am just saying the coaches and front office have zero motivation to tank since they will be gone in a few weeks.  Why would they tank to give the Jets a better draft choice?

Both will be all out to beat the Bills.  It is rivalry and psychological.

The Pats, after last week think they can beat us.

If the Bills beat the Jets, then I would expect the Pats to beat the Bills backups. Have to figure the Bills will treat the NE game like a glorified preseason game if they beat the Jets this Sunday.

I think both the Jets and the Patriots would like nothing better than to knock us down to the number 3 seed.

I don't see the Patriots tanking.  Mayo is trying to show to ownership that he can be the man.  Drake Maye is trying to show the coaches he can be the QB.  They're picking like 2nd overall right now?  Not sure 2nd or 3rd matters.

The Jets....that's an interesting question.  They're picking what, 7th to 9th?  I can see where tanking would help them, but Rodgers isn't gonna want to go out that way.

Rodgers will throw his 500th TD pass of his career to Adams and then walk to the locker room together with the ball.

Why walk with the ball?

Brick will already have it there waiting in hand, another speech at the ready!

Players don't, no.  But FO and coaches can make personnel decisions and coaches can make scheme and play calling decisions that make a win less probable.

Example 2016, when the Bills sat Tyrod Taylor for the final game of the season because he had a pulled groin and they didn't want his salary to injury guarantee if he aggrevated it (and, they didn't want a worse draft position if they won)

Neither the Jets nor the Patriots will be tanking.  The Jets are more likely to lose their last 2 than the Patriots because in the season finale, THE BILLS, will be de facto tanking by resting the starters. We might even see Frank Gore Jr getting carries at RB.

The most interesting tank will be the Giants/Eagles finale.  Will the Eagles, who appear to be locked into their playoff spot, tank the final game in an attempt to hurt the Giants draft spot?  Awfully tempting to keep a division rival from getting a QB who could haunt them for years.

If the Pats win 1 more game, they drop from 2nd overall to somewhere in the 7 to 9 range.  So hopefully the Bills beat the Jets and rest their starters in the final week.
