Sure that’s part of the problem but at the same time, it’s not like his coach as OC were highly effective.  They were horrendous.  So is it that big of a loss?  The fact that Williams hasn’t shown much progress and instead has regressed should be a big concern.

I do think he’s better than what he’s put on tape but it’s going to take a lot of time, effort, and strategy to coach him up.

Who knows what he wants.  Someone put out to the media that he was “intrigued” by the opportunity but who really knows what he wants?

I'm not sure who you're watching, but It's not Caleb Williams. You're acting like he's some historically bad QB. He's drastically outperforming Allen's rookie season and on par with an edge against Allen's sophomore season right now. He's not processing the game quick enough, and he's holding the ball too long, but if he can get help to sort that out, he'll be in very good shape. If Ben Johnson ends up going there, I have little doubt they'll be highly competitive in that division in a couple years.

You'd have to think with the raw talent Williams has that Ben Johnson would take the head coaching job there.

Absolutely. Paired with DJ Moore and Odunze, he just needs a better line and ideally a more consistent RB.

🤣 “Out performing Josh Allen’s rookie season?”  You know who else outperformed Josh Allen’s first two seasons statically?  Players like Zach Wilson and Will Levis.  How do I know?  Because teams with bad QB’s always bring this up when clinging for hope. In reality it means nothing.  Lots of QB’s outpace his production and few end up anywhere near as good as Allen.

Of course, there’s a huge difference between the type of prospect Caleb Williams is and what Josh was.   Williams was the #1 HS recruit in the country, played at two major college programs, won the Heisman and was the #1 overall pick.  He’s played a LOT of football at a high level.

Josh’s past is nothing Iike this.  It’s been well documented here.

Like I said, Williams has physically ability and flashes at times, but he looks horrendous at QB and is making huge errors.  It’s not impossible to fix him but it’s not going to be easy.

But man he looks like JP Losman at QB.  Maybe worse 🤮🤮🤮🤮

He has 19 TDs to 6 INTs. I'm not sure what mistakes you think he's making, but they can't be anywhere near as catastrophic as you claim.

I've watched the kid a lot of the year as I needed up with him, Moore and Keenan Allen in fantasy.

Tough year for you in fantasy I'm guessing? Haha

We’ll see what happens next season.  I haven’t watched him as much as you but from what I’ve seen I’m not very impressed.

Speaking of which, counter to the general move of stadiums back towards city centers, the Bears are going to build their new stadium in suburban Arlington Park.

To me it seems very wrong to move the Bears stadium out of downtown Chicago.

I thought they decided on a dome at the same downtown location?

Nope. Highest scoring team int eh league, and I'm in the championship this week. First year of a 12-team, 5 year dynasty.

Unfortunately, looks like I'm going to lose this week because of the bears and the Texans games.

He's not drastically outperforming Josh's rookie year.  Josh had a better QBR (49.8 to 45.9) which isn't a perfect statistical indicator with how well a QB is playing but better than passer rating.  Allen threw more interceptions but took way less sacks (2.33 a game vs. 4.18 a game) with probably a worse offensive line (Dawkins, Ducasse, Bodine, Miller, Mimms - yuck).  Williams seems to hold the ball forever and will shy away from harder throws not wanting to risk an interception.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Caleb's offensive passing weapons were pry better (Moore, Allen, Odunze, Kmet) compared to Josh's stellar cast of Benjamin, Foster, Z. Jones, Clay.

The problem with Caleb was he didn't meet the unusually high expectations put on a rookie QB.  Maybe something a 23 year old wasn't ready to handle.  He was the rare number one pick considered to be a generational talent that many picked to go to the playoffs because of all the offensive fire power they had.  Usually the roster is awful for the first pick in the draft.  I guess Luck would be the best comparison weapons wise of someone thrown into a similar spot.  He had a much better rookie year and made the playoffs though.  I put a lot of the problems on coaching but Williams has to share at least some of the blame.  I do think Williams will be much better next year with a better o-line and coaching.  If not, then I'm panicking as a Bears fan.  I think if I had to do a redraft though I'd go Daniels, Maye, and Williams in that order.

Oh good.

When they bought the Arlington Park location I thought it was being viewed as a foregone conclusion.

I barely watch the Bears yet I have seen multiple times where Williams and his receiver are not on the same page.  Is it on him sometimes and his receiver sometimes?  Probably.  Could that be fixed?  Sure.

You know what will be harder to fix?  The fact that every time it happens he flails his arms around making sure everyone in the stands knows it’s not his fault.  He does it for a few seconds pointing to where the receiver was supposed to go.  He’s very demonstrative.  Maybe he’s tapped his own chest and taken the blame a few times.  I don’t have a full sample size but I’ve seen him tap his chest zero times and seen him call out his receivers about 15 times.  He looks like an entitled little prick just like he did in college.

Yeah just to quash that awful take once and for all:

And like you said Caleb Williams has two legit NFL WRs and a blue chip rookie. Allen had... well, the opposite end of the spectrum.

The other thing about Allen's rookie year is he showed continuous improvement from start to finish. Williams to me looks like the same player he was on day one. This offseason he needs to put every ounce of effort he has into improving because as of now he's looking like a total bust, and nobody can turn that around but him.

You never know! I had Purdy the Thursday before that got me 3 points and mixon got me like 5 and still ended up winning like 101-84 in non PPR.

Good luck sir
