Fan bases, media, and fan pressure move the needle on coaches. To think just because teams are insanely profitable or like us, successful, that external noise has no impact, thats just not accurate.

Just a few weeks ago in his postgame speech, after Sean just got done discussing how they won another AFC East championship, Terry says  ”now win the big one”. While I think Terry is ultimately happy, to say he doesn’t have some of the same views as us “negative” fans is fairly unknown at the time. Further the speed at which these views grow, it’s very fast. So maybe they’re just starting in him but that doesn’t mean they won’t grow and grow quick. Confidence is a delicate thing for most.

Sure it bothers me that fans don’t see the dead end that is this coach. How Allen has made McD’s career. Yes, it bothers me. For starters it’s just not honest to hold him in this elite category when he’s doing it off the jock of one guy while holding him down like an anchor. That just pisses me off, but that’s not really it.

I would like to see a Super Bowl in my life. I really want just one damn Super Bowl. The 90’s had an immense amount of entertainment. The 2020’s have as well. But both those periods also came with a lot of torment. We were a national punchline for gods sake. All of it is in the pursuit of a Super Bowl. So how entertaining is it when you know the guy that’s supposed to get you over the hump come crunch time shrivels to nothing? The entertainment just isn’t as good.

I think you will arrive at this place at some point. Just about everybody on this forum will. By that point we will be close to saying good bye to Josh if not already there. We will no longer be entertaining and we will do this all over again. Who knows, maybe 20 years later like last time. So that’s what I don’t want. Even if it is entertaining right now.

It doesn’t matter what you want. Or me, or any of us. Thats it. The only thing that matters ( as you alluded too) is what Terry wants. Yeah, we know he wants a SuperBowl win,  and he knows how good Josh is. Short of that Championship, it’s if and when he decides a change is necessary at Head Coach, or GM or whatever. His confidence level, not ours will dictate this. If we don’t like it, we can follow a different team. It sounds harsh , but that’s the reality.

Not a chance. We might lose the wild card, but IMO will lose in divisional (again).

We have a garbage defense with zero pass rush, bad run defense, sub par safeties, and a soft approach. Our special teams is average to game breaking bad, and our coaching seems to get the yips in the worst possible moments.

Only shot is Allen goes Super Nova, but I think he did that already for Rams and Lions and blew his load.

I want so badly to be optimistic going into the playoffs but the elephant in the room (our defense) just doesn't have the talent to stop KC or Baltimore.  Even healthy were outmaned on defense.  Without a pass rusher our zome scheme is trash.

Its scheme and coaching.

Baltimore’s Defense doesn’t have a game wrecker.   But they’ve been elite since middle of the season.

I would think that Terry wouldn’t want to go into a new stadium with 2 more added playoff exits on McD’s resume.

I’m not convinced we can outscore the Ravens if they are healthy. Their defense is also better than ours. We’re pretty much tooled with McD again.

You sure about that?  Their secondary gives up more yards to WR’s than any team in the NFL.  Teams are going to move the ball on Baltimore through the air in the postseason.

If you think there‘s any chance Terry is going to fire McDermott after a playoff exist, please study the current state of the Buffalo Sabres.

McDermott is safer than anyone at One Bills Drive not named Josh Allen.

We are a bottom 5 defense and they’ve been borderline elite like SC said (perhaps playing like the 10th ranked defense) for many weeks now.

Can we still get Pittsburgh? Chargers should finish 11-6, if Denver and Pittsburgh both finish 10-7 who do we play?

if Denver and Pittsburgh tie, Denver would be the lower seed.

Definitely agree it’s more scheme than players. I’ve seen members of the DL get quick pressure (not consistently, true), only for the DBs to give up an easy 7-8 yard pitch and catch. We need a secondary that makes the other team work for every yard. It should feel difficult to move the ball against us, but that can’t happen when everyone in the back 7 plays so soft. The tougher defenses always gets their hands on receivers and reroutes them/disrupts the timing. We don’t do that.

If the Bills lose their last two, the Ravens win their finale vs CLE , Broncos defeat Chiefs and Bengals defeat PIT then the Bills would face PIT in round one.

LOL I’m calling BS on that claim.

Baltimore’s defense 100% does have a game wrecker named Kyle Hamilton who is all over the field making plays.   2023 First Team All Pro

Oh they also have Justin Madubuike who was a 2023 second team All Pro and top 5 DT

Also Roquon Smith was who a 2nd team 2022 All Pro and a very good LB

There’s also Marlon Humphrey who was a former All Pro CB.  He’s good - not playing at that that level but still.

To pretend they don’t have taken and that their success is a result of “scheme” is factually incorrect.

McD dialing up a bunch of blitzes last week doesn’t give me any confidence either. He knows he’s got major problems (not just injuries) and is trying to stop the bleeding and get ready for what’s ahead. If he’s freaking out, then we should really be freaking out.

They have a new defensive coordinator this year and have taken some time to get it together. But they I’ve had a good defense the last few years. Since week 9 they rank 8th in EPA pass and 3rd in EPA passing success rate. 1st in total success rate. They will have it in order by playoffs.

Im the same clip Buffalo ranks, 31st in EPA per pass, 32nd in EPA passing success, and 29th in overall success rate. They have a league worst stat profile since week 9. Maybe they figure it out at time they have never done so before. The crow would be an absolute pleasure to eat if that’s the case.

If you want to be Super Bowl, you have to earn it.  That means beating the best in the conference and the league.  No cake walk.  You earn that championship.   I can see the Bills doing it.

Its up to McDermott.

If he plays the same defense he always does we are toast. If he's truly a good defensive coordinator he has got to find something to slow the Ravens down.

I would play one safety hi rapp of course, 5 on the Dline, if Lamar beats us in the air the hole game , so be it… no way I let Henry run for 200 yard's,  eating clock!!!

I will be sure to unearth threads from years ago to call you out, or not care. One or the other.
