And yet they only managed to score 24 points. I’d bet many teams have scored 24 and lost playoff games. You don’t  win games with yardage.

Walt Corey wasn’t enough to tell you bend but don’t break isn’t the fit for an elite offense? How much of our history needs to replay itself? This is insanity.

Beane certainly has some responsibility for the drafting and building of our defensive player choices.

Thought people saying it’s the Bengals Round 1  ? First time I’ve seen the Colts mentioned..

Im thinking its the 7 there now who make it through ..

Colts can make it if they win out (NYG and Jax), Denver and/or LAC lose out.  Denver plays Cinc and KC, so quite possible; LAC plays Pats and Raiders, so not likely. Indy needs a 3 (or more) team tie at 9-8, which would most likely come from Denver losing out, Cinc winning out, or Miami winning out. Indy wins the tiebreaker in any scenario with 3 or more teams at 9-8.

Bengals can only get in if they win out, Colts and Miami each lose one more, and Denver loses out.  KC plays at Denver in the last week, and they will most likely play their backups, but on any given Sunday...

All depends if KC rests their starters in Week 18.  Pretty sure they will

Kansas City has beaten Buffalo in the playoffs.  They’ve beaten almost EVERY team in the AFC playoffs with the exception of Cincinnati

‘22 season (week after Cinci embarrassed us at home).

Yea the Bengals need a ton still to happen to get in as the 7. Anything is possible but I wouldn't hold my breathe. Biggest first step is beating Denver but with KC clinched they should be able to get there in the last week. I also can't see the Dolphins losing either game but I suppose anythings possible.

Lou Anarumo will be the first coordinator fired on black Monday.

This is all but certain.  There’s no connection to McDermott but I wouldn’t mind seeing Lou added to the coaching staff on defense.

not sure what happened this season but he’s always been very good at defending big time QB’s - notably Mr. Mahomes

That’s correct… perfect record otherwise as sickening as it is.

Just treat the next two games as preseason game #2.

Only if you’d prefer the 3 seed. You’d probably get the Steelers to start round one - you could probably make an argument for 3 seed vs 2 .

I can see this happening in Week 18, but not on Sunday regardless of the standings

I could see McD bringing in a tenured assistant who has opposing views and can really challenge him

They have lost too many players on defense. DJ Reeder was the final straw. Trey Hendrickson is also playing at half-speed due to a contract dispute. Their best DB, CT-B, makes splash plays but can't cover. They gave up over 400 yards passing to Russell Wilson at home. They're D makes the Bills look like the 85 Bears.

Hence, why I said “no connection to McDermott.”

Gotta admit, it’s a good idea on paper

Is it not a gauntlet for any team to make it to the Super Bowl? Even KC still has to win two games to make it back to the SB.

Starting off with a bye is huge. Then the weakest remaining team by record. Then possibly a very strong team for the title game, all at home. Not easy, but not exactly a gauntlet. The Bills will likely have to play the other two best teams in the AFC to reach the Super Bowl. Eliminating the bye week for the 2 seed is a mother @&$! for the Bills. Greatly diminishes their chances of getting to the big game while KC is going strong.

Makes sense.  If you throw this season out (and yeah that’s a huge “if”) his track record against big time QB’s has been pretty solid.

There should be 8 teams and no one should get a bye. No team gets a bye in the NBA or NHL. Also, it should be a bracket. In other words, if the 8 seed beats the 1 in round one, they should get that easy path.

That would be really interesting. I think the bye provides more relevance to the regular season. Even more so with just one, but historically it’s not uncommon for two teams to get 13 wins and at that point it’s usually random crap deciding the bounces on who finishes ahead of who. I would either like 2 byes or none. But I can see why it wouldn’t be hard to argue for the single bye as it really is the best of the best getting the advantage. Just sucks when it’s the same team. Hard to overcome it.

Has some merit, but that’s a lot of changes. I’d be happy to see the bye return for the 2 seed. Not going to happen until the playoffs are expanded to 16 teams. That’s probably not until Allen’s career is over.

Or go back to 6 teams with no byes. It's just too big of an advantage IMO.

It usually takes two out of these three things to win a Super Bowl, great QB, great defense or great HC.  You have two of those three you have a great shot.  We know the Bills have the great QB but do they have the great HC or defense?  Me thinks no unfortunately😭

It’s too big an advantage , but the NFL only sees dollar signs. They don’t care, and won’t change it back until the NFLPA agrees to 8 playoff teams and an 18 game schedule.
