Cooper does not have #1 separation or the vertical threat he once had. That coupled with a case of the dropsies that can rear its ugly head periodically makes it hard for Josh to have the trust necessary for Coop to get many targets. I’m holding out hope that he emerges in the playoffs and looks to dominate and be a real factor.

My concern is that the Pats ran a lot of man and Josh had no one to throw to despite having an absurd amount of time in the pocket (average 3.50 seconds according to Joe B). That is with Cooper out there as well. Maybe they are not trying hard enough.

I suspect Joe Brady is keeping Cooper in mind for the playoffs. If the Bills can lull even homers like us into thinking Cooper is no longer a big-time weapon, he'll have the defensive coordinators just where he wants them. Just watch. The full Bills offense has yet to be seen.

If Cooper can't step up in the playoffs, then he needs to be a 1 year rental and Beane go get someone else.

There’s a reason he isn’t getting the ball much.  Should be pretty onvious.

hint: playoffs.

Good point.  I am sure potential playoff opponents are so dumb that they will just completely forget that the Bills have Cooper on the roster, if they ignore him during the regular season.

Solid receiver, he’s due.

No receiver on the Bills is posting stellar numbers.

….and yet we are 2nd in the NFL in points/game. Let’s not make this out to be a dire situation. If Cooper means the other team has to cover the entire field, that doesn’t seem like it could hurt.

lol.

You do know they draw up things called “plays” that involved receivers, right?  And those “plays” aren’t something to let all your opponents see if not necessary.

Love everything I’ve seen from him, hope he takes a team friendly deal to stick around for a couple more years.

That's the best scenario. Realistically I think he goes elsewhere for more money. We just haven't used him enough to justify keeping him.  He does seem to have a great attitude.

Is puzzlement the lack of targets. Maybe saving specific plays for him for the post season?

He had 14 target vs the Rams. Then 2 over the next 2 games. I think we are making a bit much out of such a small sample size.

The comments I'm reading sound like we wish we had Diggs back, as in we have a guy who the offense runs though. Tell me again, why do we want that? Why do we want the other team to know who they have to stop?

Because at this point it doesn’t look like Cooper commands any attention.

Sadly, even if he contributes to winning playoff games, he probably will want Diggs/ AJ. Brown/ Hill, money and good luck to any team that pays that. If his agent is paying attention,by  signing a team friendly one or two year deal, his client will increase his value for his last contract because Josh makes everyone better. He’s able to fit throws in smaller windows and separation is not paramount. Look at what he did for Diggs career.

He helps Josh and the offense whether he gets targeted or not and he'll hopefully step up in the playoffs... Not bad value for approx 700k for the year.

If it doesn't work out as elwe hope in the playoffs, then we have no obligation to extend him.  I'm hoping it does though and we can get him on decent value for next year... Maybe Beane can use his regular season stats to lower the amount 😏

Merry Christmas everyone and Go Bills.

Prolly the only receiver that other DCs game plan for.  They know he can embarrass you as a DC.  He’s like Cook because he can take it to the house.  Nuff said.
