Scott7975 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I had this pop up in my MSN feed today. Since it looks like we are about to have a pretty rainy game, I thought I would share it here. Nothing huge but still interesting... https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/bill-belichick-breaks-down-bill-parcells-s-strict-rules-for-playing-in-the-rain/ar-AA1wxbIz Quote First, players were not to wear tape around their cleats, as it could hinder their ability to grip the wet turf. Belichick said Parcells would even head into the training room and have tape cut from players' cleats if it had been applied. “Number two—all the backs wore long sleeves,” Belichick continued. “There was no skin on the ball. It was skin, cloth, ball. That was a must. If they didn’t have it on, he would send them back in to get it, or they wouldn’t get the ball.” Belichick also said Parcells would go through wet ball drills a lot, dunking footballs in soapy water so that they were tougher in practice than they would be in the game. “It just forces a higher level of concentration,” Belichick said. 1 1 Quote
Fan in Chicago Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) I am visiting Louisville and yesterday, was wearing my Bills cap for one of the Bourbon distillery tours. After the tour, at the bar, another visitor came up to me and said "Go Bills". I responded accordingly and asked where he is from. Well, he was from Lancaster, PA and a Jets fan!! He said he is very unhappy about the Jets situation but appreciates what we have with the Bills. We then proceeded to talk some football but I think it was pretty cool that a Jets fan actually likes his rival Edited 17 hours ago by Fan in Chicago 5 2 Quote

Round my parts I hear Vikings, Lions or Bills. Teams with loyal fan bases that have been around longer than the Baltimore Browns. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Must win IMHO. Don't want to have to play the starters in week 18 to get the #2 seed. Get it done this Sunday. 3 3 Quote
zow2 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Bills started pressuring Maye like crazy in the 2nd half last weekend. They need to do that more this Sunday. We can't let any QB just stand there and pick the secondary apart. They cannot hold coverage, not many secondary's can. 1 1 Quote

With poor coverage at the back end, opposing QBs can get the ball out quickly and negate our rush. Hoping that we get our starting secondary back in full strength for the playoffs. Quote

Fitz is a national treasure. I understand your perspective, but I gotta say - I thought that about the Browns when we lost DC Mike Pettine to be HC of the Browns, "if he's smart, he'll use that interview as practice but stay the fudge away from that Factory of Sadness". But he took the job. There's only 32 of those NFL HC gigs in the world, and when a man is offered one, it's hard to turn it down. Pettine is not the best example. He was not a crazy good candidate. Was seen as an odd hire at the time. I agree, they will find someone. That someone will likely be perceived as a dark horse or guy who is desperate or on some second chance. Maybe a guy like Doug Marrone. Quote
zow2 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago It says in The Buffalo News today that Allen is dealing with right elbow and right shoulder injuries after the Patriots game. This feels like with the weather it's going to be a ground and pound and quick screen passes, type of game. Quote

Josh didn’t seem to be throwing the ball very well last week. Just curious if they didn’t report it in the first place Quote

Dallas is also shutting down CeeDee Lamb for "rehab" reasons. I'm guessing part of it is Lamb doesn't want to play the remaining 2 games. Edited 14 hours ago by Fleezoid 1 Quote

Just curious if they didn’t report it in the first place Yeah, I thought Allen injured his shoulder in the Detroit game, it could be the sort of thing where it got a little dinged and then aggravated vs. NE. I'm hoping it's just muscle soreness and he's re-habbing diligently to work it out. Edited 13 hours ago by Beck Water Quote

I agree with the drive on some. There will also be the guys that skip from team to team and miss out on being in the same system with the same coaches teaching them. A lot of guys will be coming in without basic fundamentals in systems and be less pro ready then ever IMO. Quote

I can't say he's a crazy good candidate, but that wasn't my point. Many here at the time thought we were in for a huge letdown on D when Pettine was hired away and publicly speculated that he was just interviewing for practice and wouldn't take the Browns job if offered. After all, he was going from a 6-10 team that many saw as "on the rise" (and that did have a winning record the next year) to a 4-12 tire fire. Spoiler Pettine did take the job, making the point that there are only 32 of those jobs in the world. Quote

And how did that work out for him? 2 seasons with a 10-22 record and hasn't sniffed a HC job since. I agree with what you say for guys like Mike or Dave Culley or when Lovie Smith replaced Culley following his stint with the Texans. Lower level HC hopefull like them will ***** any job that offers them one. It really may be their only shot But higher level HC prospects like Ben Johnson, Dan Quinn ect in the last few years have routinely pulled their name out of the bad jobs. A smart coach will wait for a more stable opportunity because if it goes bad they may never see a HC job again. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago The Jets had quite a few players who either DNP or were limited on Thursday's injury report. Curious to see what theirs looks like today. Quote
