Dr.Sack Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Carter, Hamlin, Rapp, Douglas and Milano should get plenty of work Sunday. Knock off the rust and get back to feasting. No reason our best defenders shouldn’t be on the field when the 2 seed and 2 weeks off are on the line. 1 1 1 Quote

I have high hopes for the Bills overall, but I suspect Milano will continue to be a net liability out there. He just doesn't have time to get back to peak form, given the rate of improvement he's shown to date and his continuing fragility. In the playoffs, you don't want your guys hesitating, missing tackles, and getting blocked out of the play on a regular basis. I'd rather see Dorian Williams play. He's making fewer mistakes this year, and he flies to the ball like no one else out there. You know, given this defense, Babich deserves a lot of credit. He just doesn't have a lot of talent to work with. Milano, DeQuan, and Douglas are declining fast, Bernard has gone quiet, Epenesa is a warm body, Oliver runs hot and cold, Hamlin must be the slowest safety in the league, and the rookies aren't contributing much yet. Babich is right to stress turnovers. They just can't compete otherwise, as we saw in the Patriots game. In short, Allen has gone supernova in a trough year for the defense. Quote
Gregg Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago At least the Bills will look like the Bills this week wearing blue jerseys. Either blue over white (most likely) or all blues (BARF!). 2 1 Quote

They wanted to Keep their coach and were fighting to save his job. Maye's comments after the game were very revealing along those lines. Kind of like what we saw out of Dallas later that night - a much more inspired effort then anyone thought was possible. Beating the Bills in Buffalo when they're the talk of the league would have gone a long way towards saving Mayo's job. In contrast I'm not convinced that the Jet's will have a similar motivation to save their interim coach and Aaron Rogers jobs. I suspect we'll see a game from the Jets more like the one we all expected but didn't get from the Pats. Expectations are always dangerous. I don't think anyone should expect a blowout in the national football league. Fans are mad because their expectations are not aligned with reality. And the reality is that it is a week to week league and divisional games can be tight regardless of talent and records. And that is part of what makes the NFL great. You can't predict well what will happen. 1 1 Quote
Mat68 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago NYJ offer a solid but limited test for the defense. After an up and down performance against the Patriots would like to a more consistent effort on both sides of the ball. Quote

The largest problem is likely DQ’s decline. This defense needs a consistently above average performer at 1T to function properly, especially with undersized players (Oliver, Bernard) close to the ball. 2 Quote

Are we sure this isn't him just pacing himself? Quote
The Frankish Reich Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I'll admit it, I was wrong about the Jets. I said that with even mediocre QB play they'd be a solid team. Guess what? They've had mediocre QB play. Rodgers fits somewhere in the middle of the pack statistically for starting QBs. He's been much better after a terrible start. Aggregate Jets QB rating last season (mostly Zach Wilson, but others too): 70.5. That is so, so awful it is hard to find a season-long comparison. How about EJ Manuel's rookie season? 77.7. All-time draft bust JaMarcus Russell in his only (relatively) full starting season? 77.1. Taylor Heinicke (kind of the definition of the journeyman backup) career QB rating? 84.1 Hence my prediction that the Jets would be a competitor. Rodgers has a QB rating of 90.8 That's a huge improvement! They've scored almost 4 more points per game. Also huge. And somehow they're even worse. Maybe there is something about "team culture" after all. Quote

Plus I think it's important for Josh's legacy, it is an argument used by some in the media to not place Josh as a sure hall of famer or one of the elite elite. Obviously the Superbowl is more important, it's not close or debatable but it's not a zero sum matter, the MVP award brings a sense or pride to the Bills and adds to Josh's legacy, those things matter. As a fan, I'd trade all the HoF jackets retired bills have for Lombardi trophies. The only "legacy " that matters is Superbowl wins 2 2 Quote

They will give him every opportunity to solidify the important honor. I can see 3 passing TD’s & a rushing TD I do think this will be a motivator. It's not just a legacy piece of hardware, which I think is important but it's also a sense of pride for the Bills players. They see this heated MVP debate that's going on and they love Josh. I think the players will play hard this week, I just hope Brady schemes up a good game against this Jets defense. Quote

Not just the MVP honor but I could also see them taking it as a tune-up game...a bit like the 3rd preseason game used to be. Try to come out and be sharp and have a dress rehearsal and in the process get the win that secures the 2 seed. Then sit everyone next week. Maybe if Josh wants to keep his consecutive start streak going you run him out there for a series next week but that's about it. Quote
