Do you see more or less reason to think our annual post season defensive debacle will occur this year? It's all but assured just like it's all but assured his fan club will proclaim every starter wasn't healthy as a reason to justify his negligence. Just depends on who your whipping boy is. The defense may have been to blame in 2020, and 2021 yes. But, 2019 was on the Hall of Fame QB, in 2022 the offense scored 10 points, and last year they missed a field goal. Its not an annual defensive debacle, thats revisionist history. The Super Bowl is hard to win. Especially when your hall of fame QB is playing in the time and conference of a better hall of fame QB. I will never justify 13 seconds, but to constantly bang the McDermott sucks drum is asinine. There is more to the teams failures than just McDermott. Just like there is more to this teams triumphs than just Josh Allen. 1 1 Quote

If you’re of the side that doesn’t agree they have been as awful as some of us feel so be it. We are fielding the 26th ranked EPA defense since week 8. It’s the worst iteration in the McD era. It’s is a finesse defense built outside in and now it can’t even defend the pass. Josh will have to drop multiple 40 point games to have any chance. So happy we have a good culture. 4 minutes ago, SoCal Deek said: My heart isn’t frozen. It’s closer to 70 degrees here in SoCal. 😎 Pretty nice day 1 1 Quote

Having a top ten defense five of eight years? Or having a .659 winning percentage as a head coach? I am not going back over the entire injury history, but if you cant admit the Bills defense has been bit by the injury bug the last two seasons, I dont know what to tell you. The truth is posters like you have a personal issue with McDermott despite him being a very good coach. This is ridiculous It's completely within reason to have issues with McDermott and the defensive side of the ball wilting every postseason being he's a defensive minded coach that made his mark as a DC His winning percentage has more to do with Josh freaking Allen than him or his defense, and his top ten defense in 5 out of 8 years means little when they get completely manhandled when the games become do or die Good coach? Sure. Great coach. No. Josh hasn't even made a championship game despite putting up absurd numbers in numerous playoff games, and that is on McDermott and that defense you are so high on Claiming anyone who believes this as someone that has a personal issue with McDermott is a bad take, dude 3 1 1 Quote

Our defense bend, don't break(been breaking lately) style keeps Josh Allen off the field for long periods of time. ghostwriter Posted Tuesday at 03:46 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:46 AM I don’t know if reinvent is the right word or not, but at some point McD needs to move away from using undersized DL and LBs. Put a couple hogs in the middle of that DL and we’ll be fine. Quote

Mango Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM (edited) I’m a very regular Reddit user. But when it comes to both football and hockey I’ve found Reddit to be the absolute worst place to discuss the Bills and Sabres. Easily the worst takes by the most stubborn posters who clearly aren’t watching many if any games outside of their own teams, nor or they actually curious about anything at all. Worth noting that the general hockey and NFL subreddits are better than the Bills and Sabres subs. EDIT: To the OP. Paragraphs are your friend on message boards. Maybe defense is trying a new tactic of being bad during the regular season and turning it on in the playoffs? The best thing I can say about this defense this year is they've been very good at creating turnovers. Hopefully that carries over to the playoffs. Also, this is pry the first time since 2021 when we'll enter the playoffs regularly healthy on both sides of the ball. 1 Quote

There's blame to go around on both sides. 2022 was such an emotional meltdown, I can't really blame either side. But over 10 playoff games since 2019, the Bills have given up 248 pts. That's almost 25 pts per game. 2019- Careless Josh 2020/2021- Defensive meltdowns 2022-Chaos & emotional exhaustion 2023- ST & Diggs Drama 2024- ???? Quote

BananaB Posted Tuesday at 03:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:07 PM (edited) 12 hours ago, JerseyBills said: what scheme do you prefer??? Bills are 12-3, not 3 - 12 sir What’s our playoff record? In the road to the Super Bowl that’s really what matters most. Bills have one of the best teams in the league, a lot of it has to do with the guy taking the snaps. Getting to the playoffs is a standard now, and has been for a few years. What you do in the playoffs, that what counts. Last year the Bills O was on the field for close to 40 minutes against the Chiefs. Scored the most points in the playoffs against their D, but D was trash all game. People worry about the missed FG, the Bills still had timeouts in their pocket at the end to get another possession but the D folded again as usual. Against Bengals, they are down 14-0 before they even blinked their eye. In bad weather. Seems every time they play the Bengals they walk down the field for two easy TDs on first two drives. 13 second game. Nothing really has to be said here. Let’s be honest, how many turnovers, sacks and points has this team accumulated over 3 games against the Chiefs in playoffs. How want INTs? Numbers probably pretty pathetic everybody wants to forget. Against the Texans, not the Os finest moment but we had a 17 point lead heading into half. And a long ***** screen play crushed them in OT. The scheme is soft and better teams light it up. That why the playoff record doesn’t match the regular season record. Edited Tuesday at 04:13 PM by BananaB 1 1 Quote

It makes zero difference whether you’all think the Bills defense has averaged out to ‘good’ across the regular season. The ONLY thing that matters is can they win in the playoffs against better QBs (especially in the AFC) while the refs are calling fewer penalties. Answer: no, they can’t ….we've seen how this movie ends year after year You’ve seen the outcome of this year’s playoff games? You should take that knowledge with you to Vegas! Personally, I’ll have to wait and see. Quote
