…the Bills should shut it down for the last two weeks and use that time as their “bye”…they need to get healthy, particularly on defense.  Give Trubisky a couple of starts and play the backups.  Call guys up from the PS.  Start game planning for all potential playoff opponents.

 

Now, of course, if the Stillers do win then the 1 seed is still in play and it looks like Denver will have something to play for in W18 vs. KC, so my opinion completely changes.

 

Edit: ahh, sorry, I thought the 2 seed was locked up if the Stillers lose. Point taken.

Yes I agree with this if ravens lose to Texans as well as chiefs beat Steelers. We’re locked into #2 seed in this situation

We should definitely activate Hyde for a game or two to see what he's still got at least.   I don't know how we fix our LB situation but if we go into the playoffs with Baylon Spector on the field we're in big trouble and Josh is gonna have to hang 40 on every opponent.

I don’t think you shut things down completely until you have the 2 seed locked up.  Also there is something to be said about being “cold” going into the playoffs.  If we gave the bulk of our starters time off for 2 weeks then came out flat as hell the wildcard round this board would erupt.

 

I think McDermott is doing the right thing.  Don’t rush anyone back take your time recovering and if we ever get locked into place then yeah pull the plug on Josh.

Bills still need to clinch the #2 seed from the Steelers/Ravens. Even if Chiefs beat the Steelers the Bills still have something to play for.

Disagree for two reasons:

 

1) we need one more win to lock up 2 seed

 

2) Two weeks off is too long for the starters.  We see it all the time in the playoffs.  Team benches their starters in the last week or 2 and then come out flat in the playoffs.

Pretty sure McD is ahead of you…They have been resting guys who could have played all year. They are also playing some 3rd stringers for parts of games to get them some experience.

Getting Douglas and Rapp back on the field is important for this defense to be at it's best IMO.

I agree we need Hyde to get some in game reps to tune up for the post season if needed. 

 

But managing his reps is going to be tricky. How many snaps does he have before getting another neck stinger and being out?

Douglas doesn’t seem to receive the same criticism as other Bills DBs, maybe because he’s made plays in the past, but he has been ROUGH this year. Rapp I agree, he’s made quite a few TD saving plays.

this 100%.  Absolutely agree if we have nothing to play for week 18, we rest Josh and as many starters as we can.  But no way they should do the same against the Jets.  Don't want to go into the playoffs 'cold' and also would like to see the entire team shake some of the 'rust' from last nights game and get some positive vibes going into the playoffs.

Even if the two seed is locked in stone, you can't rest guys for two straight weeks. It increases the likelihood of a first round loss. 

 

Rust is a real thing.

 

Rest starters against NE? OK fine.

KC finishes up at Denver and the Broncos may need that game. Divisional games on the road are usually tough games.
