If KC beats Pittsburgh on Wednesday that puts no. 1 seed out of reach and should all but lock up the 2 seed.  At that point, I think we rest a lot of guys, up to and including Josh Allen, who seems to be banged up.

Not if the Ravens beat the Texans. If that happens the two seed is not locked up.

Should the Chiefs beat the Steelers this week the Bills can't get the #1 seed and the Chiefs will be able to rest for over two weeks considering they play on Christmas day. Should that happen I can see Buffalo sitting all their 1st string for the next two games.

KC's next two games are very tough:

At PIT on Xmas day - PIT needs the win to keep pace for the AFC N title
At DEN week 18 - DEN may very well need the week 18 win to get in

BUF takes care of business and we have a good shot at the number 1 seed.

To be locked into the #2 before the Jets game the Chiefs and Texans would have to win on X-mas day.  It would surprise me if the Texans beat the Ravens so it's likely we'll have something to play for next Sunday.  I think they play all their starters regardless against the Jets as three weeks without game reps isn't ideal going into the playoffs.

True, and the Texans have little or nothing to play for.

OK, so explain the D line. None are injured. McDermott hand picked these undersize guys over the past several years and they really cant do much. Why, because they are small. I have no idea as to why McDermott thought their speed would overcome their size. That was the same exact mistake made with Singletary and Moss. Beane is also on board with that train of thought.  These two guys from Carolina are either inept or delusional. Allen floats this entire team despite this entire team and that includes coach. At least Beane made one great draft pick as if Allen wasnt here neither Beane or Coach would be here either. Did anyone watch AJ Espo in that Rams game. They knew he was so slow they ran at him and didnt even try to block him and he whiffed twice on two separate plays. He was standing in air and the back just ran away from him. One was for a TD. Hes 6' 6" useless

The game kind of did have that 'pre-season game, no game planning' kind of feel - esp with the frustration of seeing guys like Spector playing and getting abused and 'what are they doing - why aren't they doing this' vibe.

The Spector thing, trying to load manage Williams, definitely makes more sense now - but now that he is hurt wondering if we roll Buffalo Joe out there against the Jets now.

Listening to Josh's post game presser, I get the feeling they are not going to show their full hand the rest of the regular season - unless in a game where if they win they get the 1st seed kind of thing. Josh said as much.

McDermott's presser had the same feel where he explained why Spector started ahead of Williams and one reason is that something like they didn't want to worn out either one. And he also mentioned developing young players, which sounded like Bishop, Elam might continue to play the next 2 games.

Just seems like they have a strategy in place and health is as important as the wins the next 2 weeks. If they are only going to run plays they have shown, even against Jets and Patriots, it might be tough sledding.

It's going to be interesting to see next week. By the time Buffalo takes the field again, the #1 sees may be out of reach. But they will already know that being that all of the Chiefs, Steelers and Ravens play on Christmas day. So, should KC and Houston win on Christmas, we would lock the #2 seed up. I could easily see a preseason type scenario next week where starters play a quarter or so and then it's backups.

Haha I hate that I’m dunking on this guy on every post I’m sure he’s a great guy 😂. But if your team is starting Spector when they don’t have to they are absolutely not going all out

Spector is nothing more than a spectator.

man,

he’s tough to watch.

there HAS to be someone better than him.

Me thinks Rapp, Hamlin and Douglas would have played had it really mattered.  Good chance to get some real reps for the B Squad.

Next week will be the same kind of game.

Also Milano.  Personally, I think my expectations are modulated by resting guys to get healthy for the playoffs.  Neither the Pats and Jets are really competitive for us so when we face tough teams, we’ll need everyone.

Honestly, we're in a good spot.

We can win games with the B Team, spare starters, and keep KC trotting out their starters to hold on to the 1 seed.  Seems like something worth doing if that's their strategy.

There should be an emoji scratching its chin as if to say "interesting".  What you are saying seems counter intuitive, but they kinda said as much at the press conference.

I like to think that, especially today.

As a fan - after KC won yesterday, I was kind of like "what is there to play for?"

Team probably feels the same.

Second seed is better than third, fourth or fifth. And at least for the next week, they still have a shot at the #1 with the Chiefs playing the Steelers and the Broncos who almost beat them last time except for the blocked kick.

These games aren't highly important, but they are important. And the team knows that.

I hope they are keeping Cooper under wraps because his lack of production is starting to concern me.

I don’t buy it TBH, hope I’m wrong, but I see a 3rd round pick flushed down the toilet for half a season.   For as success as the team has been, I don’t think Brady could scheme a guy open if his life depended on it.

Milano hasn’t earned his right to sit and wait this year, he’s been brutally bad.  If he’s hurt, fine, but if not, he should be getting game reps.

the problem with this is they are constantly putting Josh in harm's way when they are in dog fights with teams they should be handling.

or Josh is just playing Mahomes styled possum... hard to tell
