Freddie's Dead Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Sure tackler, tight coverage. The TD against him was just a big boy throw from Maye. 1 1 1 Quote

Different era but same nonsense. I mean, the calls were kind of silly. He deserved maybe one - but even that one in the endzone was nothing, and the ball was not catchable. If Elam didn't get any flags, we wouldn't have noticed him. He's not getting burned on any play. 2 1 Quote

Different era but same nonsense. The difference is that this year, it was the other team that found a way to lose. This one is going to eat at the souls of the Pats. Interesting to see how they respond in the game in two weeks. Quote

Matt_In_NH Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Hi technique is to grab and run with the guy. Never makes an effort to look for the ball. He was awful. Most of the calls were easy. The call on Ingram was questionable but Elam was terrible. 1 Quote

Generally he was in the right spots and while he lacks some awareness, the penalties were either bogus or severe underthrows. He needs to go somewhere he can play man full time. Should never have been drafted for this scheme. The TD and the two Pass Interference calls he was in man coverage. Quote

I agree with that but the situation, whether you like it or not, is he’s a depth player. There’s still some value there. Wouldn’t equate him outright as a bust but an over drafted choice. Irrespective of where we drafted him there is severely worse options on other teams around the league for their third, fourth of even fifth options. Will continue to support the guy as long as he’s on this team, starting or not. But that’s just me. Quote
Roundybout Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago He refuses to look back for the ball. That’s the most glaring thing about his game. It leads to a ton of PI calls, deserved or otherwise. 2 1 Quote
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Often PI penalties are questionable, the last two on Elam were easy calls, I could have even made. Did he also have a 3rd one on him earlier in game?? Not that it's an excuse, but I wonder if the weather effected him more than others? He's a Florida kid, has he ever played in cold like this and makes me wonder if his head was to the point, of not wanting to be out there in this cold and just couldn't think straight. The last two in particular were more the type of calls where you're just not thinking what you're doing. Quote

Part of CB play is to be able to track a football and make a play on it. You know who he reminds me of. Leodis McKelvin. Had all the athleticism in the world and could hang with any WR in the game but when it was him and the WR with the ball in the air the WR was going to come away with it the vast majority of the time. 1 Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If every ref in the league is going to automatically ring him up then the experiment is over. There's no point continuing with a 1st round DB who never should've been drafted in the first place based on Sean's scheme. This pick is officially a 100% Fail. Quote

When a QB makes a perfect throw - there literally isn't anything a CB can do. I saw some on here saying Elam got "burned" on that play. I can't even take that seriously. He was like a blanket on that receiver. Quote

He's on an island and is responsible for an entire third of the field all the way to the back of the endzone. It's also 3rd/5 and his primary responsibility is to attack the sticks first and then recover the best he can if they go over top of him. His recover was very good as was his coverage, Maye just dropped a ball on time in the only tiny window that was even remotely open. 1 minute ago, Matt_In_NH said: Not even look for the ball… You cannot look for the ball on a dead sprint away from it; all you do if you turn is create separation and make an easier catch for the WR. 3 2 Quote

HappyDays Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Respect your opinion but I thought he was terrible... He had an easy matchup against one of the worst WR groups in the NFL and gave up a bunch of chunk plays, whether on legit catches of penalties. I'm concerned that we don't have any legit CB2 on the roster right now. Defenses just keep attacking that side of the field for the past few weeks and it's too easy for them. 1 Quote
