Not wading through 8 pages so if this has been said, I want McD to take over as the DC for the playoffs.  I get wanting to give Babich his chance but F that.

I think once again we have a misguided blame on the coaching over the actual talent out there.

Cam Lewis is TERRIBLE. Baylon Spector should not be on an NFL roster. Bishop is a rookie.

There is only so much you can ask of backups before they get exposed.

I find it ironic that when the defense falters (which happens way to often), McDermott's response to the media is "we have to win in the trenches - we have to dominate the line of scrimmage". Well the reality is the Bills don't have the horses to do that. He's not being realistic about his "scheme" or the defensive players he and Beane aquire.

It is weird how much worse we got when Milano came back.  Granted our whole secondary also went down around the same time.  Are Douglas and Hamlin that critical to our defense??  Is Hyde Ready??

Mcdermott is the problem. He's always been the problem. Coordinatitor is irrelevant

Why is their defence way worse this year compared to years past?

Sure, there's some different personnel.

But that doesn't explain having the 7th best EPA in pass last year to the 6th worst this year

Again-  without turnovers we only score 14 points.  That’s not good vs one of the worst teams in the league.

the coaches didn’t have them ready today.  The boys failed to make plays they normally do on O and they looked cold.  After playing in LA and a dome, they got back to reality and didn’t seem to enjoy it

Not disputing the O sucked too, there IS a coaching issue, has been for a long time.  McD will waste this opportunity again and again and again and again.

Unfortunately I'd bet it's not having Hyde and Poyer.  They still knew the defense and generally how to play coverage.  They were slowing down and run support wasn't what it used to be.  Hamlin and Rapp are on par with where we were with them last year.  Not greatly improved but not worse.  Throw in Hamlin and Rapp's back ups, Spector, and Elam and now we can't cover and we already had trouble stopping the run.  The D line is going to look like garbage because we play light boxes, have no run support and we can't cover so even decent pressure is wasted because there's usually a guy open.

Maybe. But do you watch the bills and think Hamlin and Rapp are the problem? I don't personally.

Rapp has made some really huge plays and while I don't think Hamlin is a good starter, he's not a complete liability .

I would almost rather Rapp/Hamlin this year than last years Hyde and poyer. A wash at the very least IMO

I'm certainly not a DC.  Just firing off because this is a message board and that's what you do.  The A gap blitzes get picked up 90 percent of the time and leave guys open over the middle.  I for the life of me can't figure out why we don't bring a DB off the edge more often.  We have so many DB's out there it would be easier to disguise.  They're faster, can't out maneuver a rb, and it's harder for the QB to side step a DB coming down the LOS.

No I agree.  Now enter Hamlin and Rapp's back ups.  The guys that couldn't beat out Hamlin or Rapp who are essentially playing at retirement aged Poyer and Hydes level.  I think with Hamlin, Rapp, and Douglass out there we are keeping our heads above water.  LB's start getting hurt or starters start getting hurt and coverage suffers and then the pass rush and run support go with it.  I'd say especially against good teams but minus the turnovers the Pats were looking pretty good against us as well.

Milano we were just trying to throw a bunch of snaps at to get him ready for the playoffs. He wasn’t a whole lot better than Spector when in the lineup and Spector is horrendous.  Looks like it’s not gonna work out and we’re gonna start Williams imo

McD should get more involved with the D during the practice week, but not fully take over.   McD still needs to concentrate on game manangement.

McD should get more involved with the Special Teams and verify each week that they have practiced for all contingencies.  The Special Teams seem to get surprised way too often.   Even things like counting players on the field has been a problem.

Those pats RBs had some all time great blitz pickups…idk if we did something tricky with alignment late in the game but Dorian was FLYING through the offensive line lol. I’m sure that was affecting plays even when it didn’t get home

Blitzing linebackers with Spector playing makes a ton of sense even if it doesn’t work because he is probably the worst coverage linebacker I’ve ever seen.  The only thing he’s even close to average at is pass rush.  Leaving him in coverage is an easy quick completion to somebody as if you were blitzing without even sending a guy 😂

Do we even officially know why the hell Spector was playing at times? Haha

I am assuming cause Dorian had the elbow injury and they wanted him on a pitch count?

Idk if I’d say we officially know haha but I’m pretty sure you’re right.  Williams seemed like he was active for emergency purposes

It's not an X's and O's issue.  It's the jimmy and the joe's.

They need to turn over every leaf this offseason to be more physical up front on defense next year.

All the resources put into the DL and they still suck.  This is what happens when you have a team full of rotating players vs a handful of studs

Spector is an absolute liability, but the gap between LBs and corners in the zone aren't being read properly or quickly enough to close that first window.  That's been a problem regardless of who is starting at LB.  It's a communication issue and having multiple people rotating in is not helping with continuity.

They tackled better in the 2nd half, spector's inability to challenge the pass catcher OR tackle him was just brutal in the 1st quarter.  Need a 3rd down? Throw it near that guy.
