Mainly because the defense is the reason we haven’t won a Super Bowl yet. It’s still the problem. We have talent on defense. It shouldn’t be this bad I hear you, I often feel the same but on the other hand I thought this was going to be a complete waste of a season not even making playoffs so this is a true bonus for me. Can our offense continue putting up big points in the playoffs so there wont be as much pressure on the defense is whatI'm hoping for. Quote
Chaos Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The defense is not good. There are players that would start on other teams. But I don't think there is a single player on defense that opposing fans say "I wish that guy was on my team". Milano being out is like saying Tre White is out. The Milano of yesteryear is altogether gone. There is no magical scheme that covers up the lack of talent. Quote

I think they just took him off the field because he simply cannot play in this league. Maybe they were running him on early downs to protect William's injury and they just had to give up on it. 2 1 1 Quote

I thought it was just Spector early with TB but happy to be corrected. Somebody said they were running him on early downs and then switching him out for Williams on 3rds. Cannot confirm the rotation, but I have to wonder if they were giving him snaps because Williams is not really 100% healthy. 1 Quote

Roundybout Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I’m glad Andresson got some snaps. I know he had a good tackle on a run play, did he have any other tackles? Quote

So does every team in the NFL. Indeed the trend even this year is towards more zone and further away from man. Going into this week the highest man % in the league is the Lions at 46%. Jags are second at 42%. Everyone else is below 40. EDIT: in interests of transparency think the Bills are 29th in man % with 19%. Buccs, Colts, Bears are lower. Then Chargers and Packers 1% above us at 20%. Edited 5 hours ago by GunnerBill Quote

So ya they made plays the bills defence, but I have high standards against a crap offence like that And they scored 21? Pretty close to their average, would you say? If the offense got it's usual 30 this wouldn't even be a discussion. Again, they needed TWO PI calls and 11 tries from goal-to-go to get the last 7! Edited 5 hours ago by PromoTheRobot Quote
gordong Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago the simple fact of the matter is they need better players... the defense will be the downfall of the bills in the playoffs. Although the offense game plan was crap today... and Allen did not play well. 1 Quote

They have been blitzing more too. People also need to recognise the difference between zone coverage and what is properly called "soft zone." They have had some issues in zone coverage looks (whether standard or soft) but their numbers in man are worse. And yet every time something bad happens it is greeted with "that blasted zone coverage!" It isn't the fundamentals of the scheme that are the problem. It's the way they are calling it and executing it that is the issue. This is semantics. We play a lot of zone. The corners sit back. Too far for most of our liking. The entire philosophy is to prevent big plays over the top. Keep it in front and make teams go on 12/13 play scoring drives. Bend then get tough in the red zone. I’m not sitting here saying they are playing prevent. You know what I mean. And im also not saying they don’t send pressure. This year has certainly seemed to be more frequent. I’d say in games or once McDermott took over play calling in the past, we were more aggressive in that sense. But as a whole, philosophically I feel we are passive. And sit back too much and try and let everything stay infront. I think there are times where the other team is way too comfortable. I think on 3rd down it’s constant. That’s why we never seem to get off the field on 3rd down Quote

How many times did Bill change his system in NE over the years. Did it on O and D consistently depending on the players. Edited 5 hours ago by BananaB 1 Quote

RunTheBall Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Glass Spector sucks. He popped his calf again, that’s why Williams was in more. I think they were probably trying to give Williams time to heal the elbow. Spector should never see the field again, I’d rather see Buffalo Joe. If Glass Milano doesn’t come back to form in the next 2 games we should start Williams in the playoffs. Babitch got schooled by Alex friggin Van Pelt and a bunch of nobodies. Drake Maye looked like a friggin veteran out there, absolutely disgusting. 4 Quote

But was that cause the bills forced it, or was it because it was a dumb play by New England? Relying on turnovers in the playoffs to get stops is not a recipe to win, as Mahomes, Lamar etc aren't going to make those dumb plays 1 Quote

It’s a straight forward question Quote
