Trust me. I do. The bolded is not true.

The guy is throwing unhinged fact-free rants all over the board.

Call me crazy but the need to put Groot back on the left side.  Sorry Miller either rush from the right side or back up AJ and he can start at RE.  I think Groot sets the edge better on the left side and AJ rushes better from the right side.  Also what is the point of blitzing and then playing some really soft zone that lets them get the ball out quickly and pick up 7 or 8 yards?

The defense just isn't good.   It isn't the play calling, they just don't do anything well.  They can't rush the passer.  The linebacker and safeties stink so they can't stop the run.   They have a couple decent corners but that's the extent of it.  They need to reload.

When the CBs give that much cushion, there's very little the front 4 can do. They can't get home if the QB has a receiver wide open 3 yards off the LOS

We are probably going to finish top 10 in defensive scoring….

I don’t think we are a great defense but not horrible either…about a little above average.

When you define defensive scoring, do you mean PPG allowed or more like EPA statistics?

As I can't keep track with all the stats these days haha

And not sustainable.  I am happy they are 12-3 but I am also thinking about the playoffs.

says you.

Good defenses get takeaways this Bills defense is among the leaders in takeaways pretty often.

If they could have played I'm sure they would have. I know you're fired up man but enjoy the win I guess?

I’m happy we won although it might come off otherwise, I’m just frustrated with the defense. Mainly because the defense is the reason we haven’t won a Super Bowl yet. It’s still the problem. We have talent on defense. It shouldn’t be this bad

Yes.  Before the 2 straight 40 burgers,  I think we were top 6.  But those games count and we struggle getting off the field on 3rd down….so that’s why I say a little above average.

What I struggle with is: Would it have been better if the Bills were missing zero defensive starters?

I can’t honestly answer “yes”.

Every team the bills play they miss starters as well.

And let's be honest the bills defence isn't exactly missing "key starters ".

Rapp? Ok fair.

Hamlin, Milano and Douglas aren't really big losses at this stage

This is very true^.

It definitely is a mix of soft zone, but also a lot of pressure. In not ideal times lol

They have been running lots of cover 1 man and cover 3 with a mix of man and zone concepts the past 3 weeks. They have been blitzing more too. People also need to recognise the difference between zone coverage and what is properly called "soft zone."

They have had some issues in zone coverage looks (whether standard or soft) but their numbers in man are worse. And yet every time something bad happens it is greeted with "that blasted zone coverage!"

It isn't the fundamentals of the scheme that are the problem. It's the way they are calling it and executing it that is the issue.

The bills defence made some big plays when they needed to today, but...

Bobby Babich is a big problem in my opinion.

It's not all his fault as the pass rush is still bad. But It almost seems like he is guessing a lot of times and the opposing OC usually is a step ahead.

I know it's a bit bold but if I am McDermott, I've seen enough and I'm taking the play calls from him the rest of the year.

What do you guys think?

Might be an unpopular opinion so feel free to roast away if you want, but I definitely feel strongly about this

Play calling is all about guess work.

He's missing three of his four starters in one unit (defensive backfield).

He's shown flashes of being pretty good, but also some painful moments. Pretty common for a first time play caller IMO.

I don't know if I strip him completely of play calling, but maybe situationally. Third and long would be somewhere I'd like to see McDermott maybe step in.

Were they rotating them early to see how Williams' injury would affect him?

Early on, Spector was playing 1st and 2nd downs, then they brought Williams on 3rd down.  Did Spector get hurt at some point?

I thought they were like 18th or something like that, but I could be wrong .

I don't think so but I am at my sister's and in a storm the wifi was not super stable for my stream. I thought it was just Spector early with TB but happy to be corrected.
