These idiot coaches put Spector in. He doesn’t count as an excuse. Milano practiced all week and Steve wonder can see that Dorian Williams is better. Spector being out there is just another example of horrendous coaching. Not an excuse for it

Bobby Babich is a big problem in my opinion.

 

It's not all his fault as the pass rush is still bad. But It almost seems like he is guessing a lot of times and the opposing OC usually is a step ahead.

 

I know it's a bit bold but if I am McDermott, I've seen enough and I'm taking the play calls from him the rest of the year.

 

What do you guys think?

Might be an unpopular opinion so feel free to roast away if you want, but I definitely feel strongly about this

He is not running a ton of soft zone. We need to stop saying that every time the D struggles.

The defense just isn't good.   It isn't the play calling, they just don't do anything well.  They can't rush the passer.  The linebacker and safeties stink so they can't stop the run.   They have a couple decent corners but that's the extent of it.  They need to reload.

Milano not playing was the right call IMO. But why Spector was starting when Williams was up I have zero idea.

Agree.  This was supposed to be a retooling year and weren't expected to do that well.  But what do they do, they go out and win 12 games.  Many are saying they are the 2nd best team in the league and at times they are,  But other weeks they play like a team expected to be in the middle.

 

And where they are struggling is on the line, letting teams stay on the field  by running and not getting sacks.  They should have a decent amount of money this off season so they need to go out and sign the top FA pass rusher, maybe a better run stopping DT to play next to Oliver, draft a CB high and let Douglas go, assuming Bishop takes over for Hamlin, draft another safety to replace Rapp in 2026 and probably also a LB to replace Milano in 26.

It's the patriots offence. They average 18 ppg. One of the worst offences in the league.

 

So ya they made plays the bills defence, but I have high standards against a crap offence like that

Every single coverage we run is lay back space given soft zone. Watch the corners. They are never pressing they are never in man. This defense is a ***** joke. Just because we send a guy here and there does not change the fact that almost always we are 6 yards off dropping back. Maybe with Elam out there we played more man but it’s still the same BS all the time

That’s the only way we ever stop anyone. It’s flat out not sustainable. You can’t just rely on take aways. They are too random. I say it every week. If we aren’t turning people over, we aren’t stopping them. That’s not good enough

We are probably going to finish top 10 in defensive scoring….

 

I don’t think we are a great defense but not horrible either…about a little above average.

So losing 3 in the secondary and we shouldn't skip a beat? I didn't like how the defense played but it's not an excuse if you lose your starters the people replacing them are not going to be as good, that's just how it is.

The lack of pass rush is still my biggest concern

Those guys all practiced all week. All of them could have played

The D has been porous for at least the last 3 games because of injuries in the D backfield and the LB corps. Hopefully the injured starters will be ready and fresh for the playoffs.

 

BTW the Rams and Lions D had significant starters injured and this ensbled our O to score 40 + points. In the NE game we faced a tight D with few injuries and that, I think, contributed to our O's less that stellar showing today.
