But I didn’t have the benefit of TV replay so I’m not entirely sure. I’ll watch the broadcast this week to get a better sense of whether most calls were legit or the officials had a bad game. On Allen’s interception… what happened to Coleman in the endzone? On the TV, I just saw him on the ground as the defender is catching the ball. I assume there was no obvious penalty… no one has talked about it. But did Coleman slip? 1 Quote
RichRiderBills Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Man, I don't get hyping the notion it was an in game rivalry. There was just poor play from us and at times excellent from NE. In the end, these are the same mistakes we've seen before. Could not stop the run....at least for a stretch. We got run over on those first two drives. Same problems. Plus, Maye was insane. He was throwing darts all over and making great heady plays when pressured to ditch the ball and avoid sacks. Our brand of D struggles against solid QBs. I know some folks will boast we adjusted, but see Ravens , Texans, and Rams game to say the damage can be done against better teams. We had poor play calling in this one. Again, this is always what happens when we struggle. Ditched short passes in Lieu of deeper lower percentage plays. It's Brady 's bane. Then in cold WRs had drops or Josh was off. We seemed affected by cold. Edited 4 hours ago by RichRiderBills 1 Quote

CincyBillsFan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 9 minutes ago, Coffeesforclosers said: Yeah. I'm also more concerned for the D than I am the O. Offensively, I thought we were very vanilla. That's fine, we shouldn't need our best stuff or new ideas to beat the Pats. That would also explain why the Pats had such a strong outting. They didn't see anything that we hadn't put on film a bunch of times. The D has been getting away with weak first halves followed by very strong second halves for most of the season. That I don't know how to explain, except that Babich is a first class defensive mind who doesn't like to be proactive? While the O wasn't sharp the big problem yesterday was the D's performance in the first half. Those two long time consuming drives by the Pats never should have happened AT HOME. The reality is that the Pats had almost 250 yards and over 20 minutes of TOP in the first half. This robbed the O of at least 2 and probably 3 possessions. Sure the offense was sluggish but that was to be expected after 8 straight games of scoring 30 or more points. 1 1 1 Quote

wjag Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The View from my couch: 1. Watching the Pats march down the field on consecutive drives was beyond frustrating. Clearly signaled that it was going to be a long day. 2. I like Drake's game. He's going to be a problem. Patriots have their next QB. 3. For as bad as the Pat's OLINE was supposed to be, sacks were hard to come by. 4. Both Cook and Shakir with bad fumbles or great punch outs, depending on your perspective. 5. The last 5 minutes of the that game was pure agony. 6. The Bills receivers had the dropsies yesterday, maybe for the first time this season. 7. Cook doesn't look like he is running and then BAM, he's gone. 8. When Josh ran down field trailing Cook(?), do we think he was looking for a hook and ladder redux? 9. Can't think of a single wow pass Josh threw yesterday. 10. The backward pass that resulted in a TD was the only real poor decision Drake made yesterday. Kudos for Rousseau for blowing up the back that ensured he would not recover the fumble. 11. The Bills were in the QB backfield all game and just kept missing him. 12. Elam.... Sheesh... Might be his worst film day. 13. Resting players and getting back ups some live fire, HOPEFULLY, plays dividends in the playoffs. Cause it's painful to watch at times. But you can't learn from the heated benches. 1 Quote

Coach Tuesday Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) 1 hour ago, HappyDays said: So "interesting" that it makes me wonder how... real the offensive gameplan was, if that makes sense. Felt like we were trying things or putting things on tape that haven't been typical of our offense. The 13 straight passes is a good example. Throwing downfield to Shakir several times when we have barely gotten him involved downfield. Allen was barely running. I come away from this game mostly unconcerned about the offense. I don't think this game uncovered any fundamental problems. A little bit of sloppy play, a little bit of sleepwalking in a somewhat meaningless game, a little bit of an intentionally atypical game plan. The path back to dominance is pretty easy to see. The defense on the other hand I come away concerned about because the issues in this game were more fundamental issues that have shown up over and over again in recent weeks, and I don't see any path to substantial improvement unless the coaching staff completely changes their philosophies overnight. My only concern is a concern I’ve had all season, and it’s relatively minor because they’ve overall been so successful: Brady’s playcalling between the 40s. On the outer edge of the red zone, for whatever reason (and to my untrained eye and in my unresearched opinion), his playcalling falters a bit. They still have this lingering Dorsey-ness of looking for the shot play instead of making sure they get into Bass’s range no matter what. Again I could be wrong - but it seems like they’re more efficient in the actual red zone than they are in the outer red zone, which seems unusual. Edited 3 hours ago by Coach Tuesday 1 Quote

It would’ve likely took a few of those perfect throws maye dropped in away and we were running the ball even better than they were 2 Quote

We should have ran the ball more to make them back off coverages, and we needed more incentive short routes in the passing game. Quote

Mayes comments after the game indicated that this is a sore sot for the players and they gave it their best effort. I doubt we see the same level of intensity from the Jets in support of their interim coach and Rogers. Quote

None of the receivers had an impact yesterday. Very strange game plan and looked like no one wanted to be out there. The previous game in what was Cooper's no target game, the All-22 shows how the Lions rolled coverages his way all game and that absolutely freed up other guys underneath. His impact is most certainly being felt and I do expect him to come up with a big game or two in the playoffs. Just my gut feeling. Go Bills!!!! Quote

This notion that teams are "rolling coverage" his way nonsense. Show me tape of something consistent. Cooper isn't even on the field enough for that to be true. Quote

Do you accept film study/review from guys like Dan Orlofsky, Kurt Warner, and Greg Cosell as being truth or do you think with all of their expertise both playing and watching the game that they have no idea what they are talking about? All 3 said the exact same things about Cooper following the Lions game. Also, against the Rams he was on the field for 55% of snaps. 46% against the Lions. That's hardly what I'd call "isn't even on the field enough" lol. I see a lot of arm chair QB's dismissing Cooper because he doesn't have good numbers since joining Buffalo but the experts who break down the film see things completely differently. I'll take their word on something before whatever it is you or I see while watching the tv broadcast of the game. Go Bills!!!! Edited 3 hours ago by Buffalo4Life01 Quote

That and also the game revealed what the offense looks like when Allen is intentionally not running around with the Superman cape. I know in the playoffs he will turn it on again so I'm confident we can get back to the 30+ PPG offense we've been since adding Cooper. But they need to continue investing in the WR room and get to a place next season where Allen doesn't need the Superman cape all the time to score 30+ points. We have no on-schedule vertical passing ability with the current personnel, which makes those midfield shot plays a complete waste of time. 2 Quote

It takes Coleman being out for him to even hit 50%. if Cooper was playing like some world beater drawing extra coverage he’d be out there more often. Quote
