They were either trying to save Williams' arm (he came in on the first 3rd down), or they were under the impression that Spector....adds something. What, I'm not sure. He's playing his worst ball imo.

It’s inexplicable to me how Elam seems so unaware and unable to turn his head around. He has the physical skills to do it. He has the time in the system with good coaching. Seems like a problem between the ears. Anyhow it counts in the win column and let’s beat the Jets.

He was abused on the first 2 drives. We were playing with 10 guys with him out there.

The Elam experiment is over. I was rooting for the kid but he will never get McD’s confidence. Just too handsy even though a couple calls were pure BS.

 

How does Smiley still have a job? He’s gotta go in the offseason. Our special teams suuuuucks when it comes to coverage/penalties/and now fake punts.

I’m concerned our D-line just isn’t good enough to get past the divisional round. This was one of the worst O lines in football and they were blowing our D line off the ball most of the game. We had to blitz to get pressure and made a rookie QB look like a vet. That’s a problem.

It's hard for me to respect McD with the Smiley situation. Smiley has sucked for a long time. McD doesn't hesitate to bench players for mistakes but allows the special teams clownshow to continue.

I saw #44 and #48 on special teams. If you want to save Dorian, but you don't want to see Bail Inspector on the field (you shouldn't) then there were options.

Just as a note but if Buffalo is the 2 and they play Denver or Indy the game is going to look a lot like this.  In fact I really fear the colts because they have the parts to run 50 times and throw 15 times in a bad weather game.  They would have a huge size advantage 0n the buffalo defense.

we're getting a bit spoiled. a win after a ***** start is fine by me. 

 

not a great performance by any measure, but winning while playing crap is better than losing while palying well.

Not really a “ weather” game today- just cold. I get the point though- it’s a long season and you’re going to get a few games like this. Not surprising that it was a division game. The team didn’t look like they really brought it today , but they capitalized on enough NE mistakes to get the W.

I noticed every handoff on that last series were tossed. I know he snuck to end the game though.

The toss pitch uses more time then an off tackle play.  By my count the three pitches took an extra 5 seconds off the clock.  That doesn't sound like a lot but it equal to one NE play if we hadn't got that 1st down.  Allen threw 3 nice passes after his injury and he ran a sneak so I'm assuming it was a stinger which took a bit to subside.

That is due to the injuries in the secondary.  Keep everything in front and do not give up deep throws.  That is the design of that defense.  Like it or not.
