I think its perfectly normal to be upset...I would be...but his reaction was too much for a grown man who is Captain of his team.

Remember this is the society we live in that gives out awards for kindergarten for graduation to 1 st grade.

I wasn't watching, so not sure of the duration of his tears. But I do know there is a time that leaders need to lead. They need to be strong for the sake of guiding those they are tasked to lead. There is a time and a place, just as there is with a father and his family.

They did that when I was in kindergarten back in 1980... poor example. When you're not a part of a team who fights for each other and has a strong base of camaraderie and spirit, you don't get it and clearly you don't get it.

I’m a little mixed with this as I get it from both sides. The Quarterback has to be the leader and the most composed guy on your team and that’s where Stroud failed. It was a little over the top for me.  With that said , this is now Dells 2nd pretty serious injury in 2 years. Stroud and him came in the league together and at worst have a strong teammate connection and at best they are really good friends who hang out together.

It was a little embarrassing and kinda immature. He's still growing up. Id give him a pass. Its really not that big of a deal.

Stroud crying shows me that he cares.  A lot.  If I were a texans fan this would make me really optimistic about the future.

 

Now his offseason tour of self promotion about how great he is and ranking players....that is a really bad look.  Caring so much about a teammate that you are overcome with emotion in a big game, that is a good sign.

Well  3 team all American in high school.  Western ny all county team 2x.  Still had 2 school records in track 10 years after I graduated.  My father was the real athlete world champion figure skater.  I just inherited it from him.  Went to nationals all 4 years in college I can say I placed 8th every year.  In a box I have my all American awards.  I were my dads award.  Mine don't compare. Clearly you mite rethink your journey.

Nobody has an issue with him caring... 

 

It's not good optics in a leadership role. 

 

Obviously it's just a football game and it was a bad injury but it's important to be a battle tank commander archetype ( a hero archetype) as the QB in football. It's symbolic in life 

 

It's honestly not that big of a deal and he's still a young man but he's gotta be tough. I thought he responded well to a couple bad picks and kept battling under pressure in arrowhead. It's a good sign. 

 

I knew KC would win that game. Texans have a bright future, but I just don't think they have the maturity yet 

 

I don't think they'll be an easy out tho.

I get that; I really do. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've been there.

I think that taking care of your business while tears are streaming down your face is noble and worthy of respect.

Hiding and acting so distraught that people feel compelled to drop what they're doing to come and console you is less so, imo.

Didn't see it. Read the ESPN article on it where Stroud himself talks about teammates like Mixon and Schultz having to console him. He's a second year player and Dell is his best friend, so I get it to a point, but that's a problem if you've got to rely on others to get your QB to get his sh!t together. It's the NFL. In all likelihood this won't be the last time he sees a teammate suffer a career threatening injury. Hamlin's case aside, the game will go on. Time to grow up and put your big boy pants on young man.
