CJ Stroud's uncontrollable crying.....

I understand guys should be upset when one of their teammates goes down with such a gruesome injury, but Stroud's over the top antics seemed quite juvenile and unbecoming of a Captain of the Offense and a supposed leader of the team.

 

I counted at least 5 different teammates that had to come over and comfort him, trying to tell him to get it together with no success. he was crying so much, you would think he was actually the one injured......way to take the focus away from your injured teammate.

 

Anyone with any sense should have realized the cameras were going to be on you in that moment, and you need to keep it together and act like a leader....not to mention the fact that he played pretty poorly after the Dell injury.

 

I know a lot of Bills players had tears in their eyes during the Hamlin incident, but that was a completely different situation IMO.....they thought he died on the field.

 

I just thought it was a bad look and a little immature for the face of their franchise to carry on in that way.

I think its perfectly normal to be upset...I would be...but his reaction was too much for a grown man who is Captain of his team.

I mean if tyrod Taylor or Nathan Peterman or Rob Johnson or Doug flutie were crying on the field because a teammate blew their knee out...

It appears to be Dell's kneecap sticking out the side, kind of muffled from view by the pants

It looked like it might have been the same injury that Teddy Bridgewater suffered, in a shorts-and-jerseys practice with the Vikings.  Several Vikings teammates reportedly threw up after seeing it.  The Vikes cancelled the rest of practice and sent everyone home, that's how hard it was to look at.

 

Stroud identifies Tank Dell as his "best friend".

Nobody is patting him on the back. Frankly, I don’t care how he reacted. He can do whatever he wants or feels the need to do. If I ever get to the top .01 of my profession, I don’t give a damn what anyone on a different teams message board thinks

Take your moment and then move on and rally the troops and win it for Dell.

 

It wasn't a good look for the "leader" of the team

 Nope, but I wouldn’t write a few paragraphs about it though.

we have no idea of why he reacted that way.  Just like combat vets react to loud bangs differently than the normal citizen or dogs hide in the tub when fire works go off.

My first thought was, why is this guy crying? It’s not like he died on the field and the trainers brought him back to life. It’s a football injury and they happen every week.   It wasn’t like Kevin Everett or Ryan Shazier when they were motionless on the field.  
 

At the same time I can’t stand Stroud since he stood at mid field like he was some kind of Superhero after his TD pass to Collin’s against us, so I’m alittle bias.

They got 0 points after that injury, Stroud was emotionally gone.

 

It's a very valid point by the poster and as a "leader" of a team, you can't have that.

 

He should be the one consoling/rallying his teammates, not the other way around

There is the game and there are real emotions for friends. Injuries are very real and I can confirm it is horrendous to see friends in pain. You can grandstand and advise players to "be professional" but it is secondary to the human aspect. 

Stroud played adequately after that situation and the loss was not due to him being emotional by seeing his friend so gruesomely injured. 

You are entitled to your opinion but I won't point a finger at Stroud to openly display emotions .
