Brutal throw from Jennings.. had the 1st down and instead goes for the wide open TD and just misses him.

And Jennings might as well wear a Penn State jersey thus far.

Yes, he seems overwhelmed by the environment. I called an SMU upset, but was wrong. We’ve seen mid major teams pull upsets in these massive stadiums on a regular basis, but Jennings seems like it’s too much for him to handle.

It’s just Jennings too.

SMU Defense has locked down PSU and they’ve moved the ball, but he’s literally responsible for taking 7 off the board and then giving Penn State 14.

About as bad as it gets.

Yeah, that’s why I picked SMU for an upset. I thought they’d play well, but didn’t think Jennings would melt down. Drew Allar and the PSU offense is incredibly overrated, and I assumed SMU would score points.

SMU and Indiana absolutely torching chances for upstart schools moving forward.

And almost solely due to their QB’s absolutely panicking in the moment.

Curious, NCAA Basketball has Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final Four.  Anyone know if these initial rounds have nicknames yet?

So far ”First Round Follies” fits.

I thought Indiana/SMU had a chance.  The talent disparity between these teams and the blue bloods is just too large.  Bama/Ole Miss/***** would’ve made for much better games

Eight teams made more sense simply for that reason.

I liked SMU today. I thought IU would get buried. This has been a bit eye opening though. If these games are any indication the “eye test” is going to be more prevalent moving forward. 12 best > 12 most deserving. Alabama would have beaten IU & SMU by 3+ TDs.

A lot of us on here were beating the drum for Alabama over SMU in the playoffs.  Losing to Clemson should’ve bounced them out of consideration in my book.

I took the bait. Emotion over logic. Fails everytime.

Only way you can do that is to pick the 12 teams before the conference championship games. It's unfair to punish a team that loses its championship game compared to one that doesn't even play in one.

I'd be fine if they picked the teams for the playoff before the championship games.

I actually wish the entire conference system could be restructured. I know it won’t happen because of money, but I’d like to see the idea of conference taken out of the college football equation. They aren’t important with the new playoff system. Let the best teams play, and create more matchups that allow us to know who’s the best during the regular season.

It may be a couple seasons, but the conference championship games will be eliminated.  Instead that weekend is expected to be used for “play in” games, like Ole Miss vs Alabama.
