sven233 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The correct answer is nobody. There has never been anything like him to play the QB position in history. Best arm the league has ever seen, just as big and strong as most LBs in the league, can jump over the freaking moon, great vision while on the run so he can make you miss, run through you, or jump over you, can make throws that nobody has ever seen before, and has been clocked running at like 21 MPH at times. And that's the just physical stuff. The fact that this year he is proving to take another couple steps in terms on the mental game is only adding to the rest of it. Throw on top of it all that he is as tough a QB as we have ever seen playing through countless injuries and there just hasn't been anyone else to ever play that can do the things he can do on a football field. A lot of people say Elway. I get it. There are some similarities, but Allen is on a whole different level physically and athletically. That's not a shot at Elway at all. Different era and he was great. But if you were to design a QB in a lab, Josh Allen is what comes out as the finished product. Never take watching him for granted because I am not sure we will ever see anything like him again. If he stays healthy and continues on the trajectory he is on, he's going to hold so many NFL records by the time he's done (some that will probably never be broken), it will be unbelievable. He's Jordan. We can only hope that at some point during his career that the team can put enough talent around him, stay healthy in the Playoffs, and that his coaches can make enough of the correct decisions at the right times, to win a Super Bowl (or a few). 1 Quote
Joe Mama Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Sammy Baugh (hall of fame QB) was also a top defensive back (31 career interceptions) and was the team's punter with a career punt average of more 45 yards per kick. Slingin' Sammy had a game where he threw for 4 TDs and intercepted 4 passes on defence! Edited 4 hours ago by Joe Mama 1 Quote
The Frankish Reich Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago An, umm, well-seasoned fan's perspective: - 1970s: Roman Gabriel (peaked before my time, in the 60s), Bert Jones. Watch the tape! - 1980s - 90s: Elway, Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Steve McNair, Favre - 2000s - now: Culpepper, Luck, Rodgers, Mahomes All big (or big enough), athletic running threats (Luck would surprise you), big arms, big cojones Quote

Douglass was a big, rawboned midwestern farm boy who had size, straight-line speed, toughness, and instincts. He snapped arm tackles and overpowered DBs, outran LBs, and played with reckless abandon. He could also throw the ball 80 yards in the air... just a big strong country boy. But he never learned to play QB... he was a football player playing out of position. He was fun to watch. Imagine if Tebow had a rocket arm. 1 Quote
Chaos Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago In terms of individual dominance in a team sport, Wilt Chamberlin and Wayne Gretzky are your closest comps. Quote

Chamberlin was not the greatest basketball player either. But Allen and Chamberlin took over individual games (Chamberlin once scored 100 points in a game) in way no other player has ever done. 1 Quote
london_bills Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Dont think there is one, Josh is like a cross between Lamar Jackson and Rothlesburger with a bit of Favre. But a way more fun guy then any of them! Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Josh is a top 8 RB in the NFL and is a top 3 passer, which could only be said of potentially Cunningham and Vick at any point in my lifetime. I though don't think Cunningham was THAT good at running and Vick was not a top 5 passer as I remember. Quote
gonzo1105 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Ben Roethlisberger is probably about as close to a comparison as you can have but the answer is most likely no one. Quote
Gman10 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Josh is a unit. What makes no sense is Brady is built like a nerd and is the opposite and the GOAT. Edited 2 hours ago by Gman10 Quote
