peterpan Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM Honestly I think Mahomes. Â He avoids the rush so well and makes amazing throws too. Â 1 Quote

Mr. WEO Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I'd say Newton--I've said Cunningham in the past and I can live with that. Different size, but for pure arm strength and running skill---Vick is a solid comp.  The Elway as a runner is an absolute myth. He rarely had called runs--he was a good scrambler. But he wasn't a runner of any kind. He had 3400 yards....in 16 seasons.   Cunningham came up in a time where people (usually not out loud) talked about "black QBs" as a certain code. So Cunningham, an actual great runner, gets kind of pegged as such while his passing power doesn't always get it's due. 2 Quote

Fortunately for us, he's one of a kind and the NFL may never see anything like him again. Lucky for us, Elway saw a lot of Paxton Lynch  in Allen. 1 Quote

Could easily gain 20 - 25 lbs and if you saw him on a beach or something, it would be very hot to notice the weight gain.  Whatever he's doing, it works. As long as he doesn't lose quickness, the weight likely affords him some protection.  To answer your question, I said a cross between Elway and Favre, but this season, much less Favre. Cunningham / Elway is spot on I think- maybe with some of Kelly's on the field presence and leadership Edited 23 hours ago by saundena 1 Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It's almost identical to Elway.  Both grew up on the west coast Both were all star baseball players Both went to a college football team that was mediocre Both are extremely mobile Both have generational arm strength Both play outside of structure Both have already had signature playoff moments early in their career  I think he has the backyard sandlot style of favre too which was unique.  But if I had to pick two, it's Elway or Favre 1 Quote

T master Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago The one QB i've always thought in his prime that reminded me of Josh is Arron Rogers . Their arm strength is comparable, Rogers use to be able to scramble to keep a play alive even if he wasn't the runner that Josh is but i thought their skill set was very similar . Quote

I think the main difference between him and Josh is that Josh is a better and more effective runner. But it's hard to say if Elway would be that way if he played now...back then, I imagine most QBs didn't want to run as much because of the terrible beating they would take.  Quote
frostbitmic Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Josh is still morphing and growing as a QB. Â Through his early career he's looked to me like Brett Favre ... A gunslinger with a strong arm, tough, fearless, will get what he needs through the air or on the ground. I think Josh has elevated his game beyond that now. Quote
