Inflation has given businesses a great cover to just hike up prices. Consumers barely have any idea what is a fair price at this point. I doubt many of these inflation blamed price increases are real or even close to relative. Sure we could just stay home. It's just got out of hand.

Did you ever stop and google the price of something before you bought it on Amazon? That platform makes a mint off consumer naivety. Some things on there are market price, but many things are insanely expensive if you bother to look. Pretty sure my wife and I are going to have to put off retirement a few years due to her blindly paying the Amazon upcharge on everyday sh!t.

There were 11 in WNY in 1984 according to an article I read. Cheektowaga, Depew, Fredonia, the Jamestown one you mentioned, the North Tonawanda one Freddie's Dead mentioned, what else?. Not sure of the others There were other department stores too likes Ames and Zayre, before Walmart moved in.

Years ago I was at fast food burger place and a grizzled old guy in his 60s (still incredibly with a metal band style long hair from the early 80s) went back to the cashier to see if he could get a free gravy cup with his fries. The clerk, a recent immigrant from South Asia, said "no sir you will have to pay $2.50 for that". At which point the old headbanger retorted with "$2.50"!!?? Fast forward to my first trip to Highmark in more than 10 years back in October and my astonishment when I asked the beer dude how much was a Tallboy of beer and he said $21!!!    $21 for a Tall boy of beer!!!! Now thats "highway robbery"!!!
