LABILLBACKER Posted Friday at 06:44 PM Posted Friday at 06:44 PM (edited) Vince Carter is right. After LeBron Allen puts up numbers against NE this Sunday, it will be "all-over". Go ahead Josh give the signal. You will have wrapped up your first of many MVPs. Next on his radar will be a Lombardi in the French quarter while eating Jambalaya & Beignets. SCBills Posted Friday at 06:48 PM Posted Friday at 06:48 PM Josh honestly is a better comp to Lebron than anyone else in the NBA lexicon. Potentially the most gifted player to ever play the sport / absolute physical freak at the position. 1 2 Quote
Sojourner Posted Friday at 08:18 PM Posted Friday at 08:18 PM 2 hours ago, Mr. WEO said: Jordan won 6 rings in 6 consecutive seasons that he played. He played baseball for a year and just came back and tore up the league again. He elevated the teammates he was given (Pippen would be the only "superstar" he played with --and created). Lebron had a decent run in Cleveland 1.0, elevating a mediocre roster to the Finals once. After that he was a mercenary who hijacked front offices and demanded to be surrounded by All Stars brought in to help him win more rings. See Cleveland 2.0, Miami, LA..... Jordan played 80+ games 11 times in his career (8 of them full 82, plus playoffs). Lebron has 3 80+ seasons and 1 82 game...in 22 years. Jordam's prime was played when the game was far more physical than it is now--teams played defense. Playing in conference vs Detroit, Indy, NY and Boston guaranteed you were going to hurting the next day. Now guys take so much time off that the league had to institute rules for sitting stars. So I would rather have the who shoed up every day, played better than everyone else in the league, made everyone around him a champion and won 6 titles for the same team without screwing up the front office. Someone with a killer instinct, not a whiner, who pushes his teammates hard enough to win it all. That was easy. LOL Dude, not to turn this into a basketball thing but that is a blank statement that people reference. Those Bulls teams were stacked with talent, on the level James has had only during his Miami year career. It’s not a snub to be compared to Lebron. In no way shape or form. Lebron has an insane career. 280 games averaging 28 points a year… that’s playoffs alone. 5x defensive first team. 13x nba first team 4x championships 4x finals mvp 1200+ straight games of 10 points. First player to pass 6/7/8000 playoff points. 20. TWENTY. Straight seasons of averaging 20ppg. That’s just a handful. Your arguments of “someone who showed up every day”, “played better than everyone” “made everyone better” is LeBron. You need a team and a front office. James had that in his prime @ Miami and he’s come out and stated the only reason he left Cleveland was because they were giving him role players he turned into talent. Again, I’m a Jordan fan. He’s #1 in my book but in no way shape or form is comparing him to Lebron instead of MJ a situation that should be one or the other. That’s like Montana is better than Brady because he won all his Superbowls… 2 hours ago, Mr. WEO said: You want Josh to bounce around the league hunting titles with other teams while he takes 1/4 of the games off and messes with the FO like Rodgers? No thanks. Give me the insanely focused competitor who trash talks all game as he dominates the NFL. You can keep the guy who whines for a call every trip down the floor. You don’t have the records and stats Lebron has by “whining” dude. Come on. A focused competitor is a guy who smashes records. Be it with one team or 3. LeBron comparison is as much a compliment as MJ. Very simple. Quote

He took a shortcut that wasn't available to other all time greats which inflated his status . He also never developed a true post game which would've made him unstoppable Top 10-20. Okay. Off the top of my head he wasn't better than Magic bird or Isaiah. Wasn't better than Dr. J....wasn't better than Kareem or Hakeem, wasn't better than Oscar Robinson or Ewing. Nowhere near Jerry West or Bill Russell. You could make an argument that Shaq was better.... LeBron taking a shortcut to Miami destroyed his legacy and robbed everyone of the journey every all time great has to go through. He lost respect for that. He regained some respect going back to Cleveland and that should tell you something. He had to bring a title to Cleveland or his legacy would've been completely tarnished Edited Friday at 08:34 PM by Kelly to Allen 1 1 2 Quote

Not to make this a Sabres thread but yes they do. This comment goes for the Bills as well. I don’t equate making wrong decisions with being a bad owner. He’s not the GM. His job is to give the GM whatever they ask for. From everything I’ve ever heard about Terry he gives the GM whatever he wants. That said, he’s hired the wrong people for the Sabres. Obviously. They don’t know how to put together a hockey team. No one will agree with me I’m sure, but he’ll get it right. First step is he has to stop caring about people liking Buffalo and worrying about will it work for the Buffalo region. Every single decision is based on “will it fit in Buffalo.” Even the Bills. Everything has to be a perfect fit for Buffalo. Not every player, coach, or GM is going to love the City of Buffalo before getting here. But just get them here. They still might not like it once they’re here but they can’t worry about that. Winning tends to fix that. Quote

They have poisoned the well so badly that I can't conceive of an executive group and coaching staff that you could ever hire who would be able to walk in and restore organizational credibility. Nobody who could actually do that would sign on. Why? Because they don't have to. They either already have a job in a better situation or some other team in a better situation will hire them first. This is an example of how broken they are. The stupid comment Adams made about there not being palm trees in Buffalo got him some negative feedback. Fine. Fans started bringing inflatable palm trees into the arena and the dumbass Sabres, rather than making it a funny tongue in cheek thing (that the fans started) and rolling with it they decided to squash it because they are so petty and weak they couldn't tolerate even the appearance of criticism of management in the arena even though they are in the midst of some of the most inept hockey and management we've ever seen. THAT is how terrible they are from top to bottom. Either NOBODY in the organization saw the fans doing that and said "Hey! that's kind of clever, let's try to make it our thing for a little while and have some fun." or someone DID see and say that and was squashed by a thin skinned superior or superior's superior. That's a little thing that feels unrelated to hockey but it speaks to how the organization operates. Somebody got butthurt about an inflatable tree to the degree that they felt the need to make it stop. How many people in the organization have the ability to make that call? Not too many. After that call was made there were others who could have said "hold on, this makes us look small and tone deaf to the few paying customers who still show up, let it go and let them have their fun". That didn't happen either. Petty and weak. How many other decisions are made on the "don't get Terry butthurt" basis? That's how Adams got the job in the first place for God's sake. He had his nose so far up Lord Terrance's finely buffed rear end that you could scarcely see his head. You think Kevyn tells Terry things Terry doesn't want to hear? That's hilarious. Well obviously playing for over 20 years and being one of the best players ever....you're going to break the usual longevity records (scoring, minutes played, etc.). But LeBron is certainly NOT a guy who showed up every day---you're joking now right? Had Jordan dogged as many games as James, he could have played 20 years and own every record. Bulls were "stacked with talent?? Those were roll players that he made into champions. HE didn't demand to be traded to all star teams. Nobody can claim James is the killer that Jordan was. I'd rather have a QB (Allen) who is like that....not a guy looking to pad his trophy case, mess with coaches, owners and rosters to please him while he takes off late winter. He is a perfect example of how the NBA has changed to the point that viewers are tuning out in droves. He has taken over the league and it's popularity has suffered. Had James stayed in CLeveland (1.0) and elevated those roll players to AllStar status and won 6 rings, then we could have a meaningful discussion of who was the greatest. But that couldn't happen with James. He's a legendary whiner, by the way. If you followed the league at all the past 20 years you would already know this. 1 Quote
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Lebron is more a unicorn than Jordan was in terms of size and gifts and that is why McGrady compares Allen to Lebron. As others have said, no slight in being compared to Lebron. If Jordan is the best NBA player of all time, Lebron is #2 on most lists. Also remember, the careers of Carter and McGrady overlapped more with Lebron's career than with MJ's. 1 Quote

Dennis Rodman was the best rebounder in NBA history, by a wide margin. That’s not something Jordan did. There have been analytics articles that have claimed Rodman was the “MVP” of the league some seasons, based on a statistical analysis of what stats correlate to winning (offensive rebounds was a big one). He was a 2x Dpoy. Scottie Pippen was a 7x all star and led the league in steals one year. Those aren’t role players by any means. Quote
