No more are the days where the bills are behind times...

we are constantly ahead of the curve... And pushing boundaries

Look at the splits Dion Dawkins is lining up with.. he's been doing it all seas

Easily the widest split from a left tackle throughout a season in a decade.. he plays on an island has world class technique and is now a dominant Force ahead of the curve

Dion is great, but I think a lot of this has to do with Allen.  Teams can’t rush him like you would most QBs.  The DE needs to keep contain, and if he dives inside, Allen escapes.  I think it’s all part of a plan

Dion is our best lineman and is playing at an all pro level

I wonder…. How many more years at this level of play before we start to hear HOF whispers?

I've already heard whispers in football circles that he is considered well well well above what the media and pundits think and if he plays at this level for another 3-4 years he has a chance

That and having trust in the LG.

We do a lot of half slides left comboing with the left guard and center

Those two guys are playing really well in combination allowing Dawkins to have that massive split

Dion has been in the league 8 years and in terms of consistency from the let tackle position over that period it is a really small elite group.

I don't think he gets as much love as he should at times because he isn't as physically dominant as some left tackles but his technique is and always has been impeccable. And he is a leader and a grest locker room presence.

That 2017 draft... Tre White, Dion Dawkins, Matt Milano.  They were the first 3 pieces of turning this around and it was a great draft.

He also plays right up on the line of scrimmage, which is not common. He likes to get his hands on the rusher as quick as possible. Most tackles want to line up far off the line of scrimmage to give them more time to react to the rusher. Dawkins just trusts his athleticism and technique.

He doesn’t have a chance unless he starts getting some All Pros. Pro Bowls aren’t going to cut it for the Hall.

Out of curiosity for those that are o-line experts, why don’t defenses load up in that gap, and rush it hard, to try to force Dawkins over more? Or even fake guys in that gap?

Because then they would be light on the other side. Allen could easily see that and audible to a run on the light side or throw a quick dump off.

Before the play you'll always see Dawkins and a few of our linemen pointing and reaching and stretching

They're gauging their reach

He's been in the league long enough he knows the reach he will need if he needs to Block down inside.. if you move a defensive line into that Gap you will also be taking him out of the A gap leaving a massive hole

Bringing a linebacker into the gap will create coverage problems.. we have five smart guys in unison who know how to pass guys off and who to block in Blitz packages

Dion is basically letting the defensive end know it's going to be me and you all day and they're letting that one technique defensive tackle you're getting doubled all day

Seriously. It's like Dion and the Bills are just begging the DE to dip inside and lose contain. Josh will take that any day of the week.

I think he's also been setting up deeper as the year goes on, to take advantage of the leeway that officials are giving the Tackles.

Seems that way, but weren't the officials supposed to be coming down on that this year?

He doesn't set up nearly as deep as some of the tackles in the league

He doesn't, but I do think he's setting up deeper than he used to because he knows he can get away with it.
