It’s prob only me that thinks this, but I love what Atlanta have done

Throwing kids straight in is not wise. Let them learn. Let them be in the camp. Grow them. These QBs are long term investments - and in an internet age when every fat, Dorito eating tv expert has an opinion, it’s wise to keep them safe

so many great QB talents are being wasted by throwing them into the real, media, internet world without recognising they are still kids stepping into a huge world

fair play to Atlanta - protect the investment

I was very surprised when the Falcons threw the cheque book at Cousins given his age and injury history. When you see Geno Smith and Will Levis throwing picks you understand why.

Still Penix is 25 years old. There's no reason why the Falcons couldn't have brought him along like the redskins did with Jayden Daniels. It's not like Atlanta is one player away. Lowest sack count in the league.

Name the great QB talents that are being wasted.  I vote nobody.  Fans use the ruined excuse when their team's scouts, GMs & coaches pick QB unsuited to play in the NFL with high draft picks.  More like good coaches' talents are being wasted by bad QBs.  Guys like Rosen, Z. Wilson, D. Jones, etc are coach killers, not the other way around.

But if you throw him in from the start, Atlanta may have a horrible record and draft early. But now, Cousins did just enough to make them a .500 team and draft in the middle of the round, like the Bills did all those drought years. Or he could be like CJ Stroud or Jayden Daniels and lead his team to the playoffs.

I think some of you people have no idea about success

I notice you are very opinionated.

I’d suggest that Lawrence, Williams, Young, and many more have been thrown into the jaws of men like you to chew and chew and chew

The pressure of the modern world is almost unimaginable to the mind of the modern fan - these are very young men

you take your time with talent. Teach them about the nfl. Teach them about the media. Let them grow up.

otherwise big fatty on his sofa is going to be calling you all kinds of bust all over the internet

I might be wrong. But penix has been set up nicely. He had a chance to ease himself into the nfl. I like adults that treat the young with gentle hands - Atlanta have class

I took it as a pun. After reading your response, I hope I was right. 😬

My guess is you don't know what the hit rate is on a QB if they sit or play right away. I don't know that either. So what are you basing this viewpoint on? Mahomes sat for a year, Love sat for several years. I can think of examples both ways.

Penix will give those defenders a mouthful, no doubt

I get your point but considering what we went through before Allen, I don’t fault any team for trying every option they can to find a qb. Cousins, at worst, is a good guy for a young guy to learn from. Penix isn’t making anything for qbs yet. It’s weird how qb is the most important Position in sports but some folks act like the Falcons did witchcraft. There will always be WRs and other players to put around the qb.

penix is a very pure passer. His injuries terrify me but odds are he’s better than this version of Cousins.

So they shouldn’t have tried anything?

Haha exactly

So, with Kirk they're 7-7 with a cupcake schedule, pry won't make the playoffs, and will likely have a $65m dead cap hit next year if they can't trade Cousins.  Last year they were 6-8 at this time so it cost them $90m for one more win.  If Penix doesn't work out this will be an all time gaffe of a contract.

If Penix doesn’t work out, then they definitely should have signed Kirk Cousins.

I always play it straight. In that vein, it's possible that a few weeks down the road the Falcons might find that inserting Penix was a huge mistake.

Nah. You sign a bridge QB for cheap if you're going to spend a 1st round pick on a rookie QB.  Like the Vikings did with Darnold for one year for $8.75m.  My guess is Atlanta fell in love with Penix after signing Cousins.
