The Bills have only allowed 13 sacks for the season and none in the last 4 games. They have allowed 1 or less in 10 of 14 games this season. People love the flashier players. It's easily Dawkins imo. 1 Quote
HappyDays Posted December 18 Posted December 18 (edited) Spencer Brown for me. He's been a dominant force as a run blocker, arguably the best in the league. You saw the difference when Van Demark replaced him against KC. He's been very good as a pass blocker too if not dominant. What is there to criticize, a few too many false starts? RiotAct Posted December 18 Posted December 18 Shakir. Catches literally everything thrown his way. 1 Quote
FireChans Posted December 18 Posted December 18 (edited) Brain says Shakir, Dawkins or Brown. Heart says Cook. I know RB’s aren’t important. But there’s something awe inducing when he hits a gap and you just know he’s 1 bad angle or missed tackle away from 6. Big runs have always had a special place in my heart. Probably Stockholm syndrome from 20 years of miserable passing. Edited December 18 by FireChans 3 Quote
BADOLBILZ Posted December 18 Posted December 18 I chose Benford. Rousseau next. Premium positions and both rank in the top 15. Spencer Brown is having a good year but is underrated because analytics don't take into account what having a bully like that does to help an offense. He could be a surprise All Pro. Brown is more likely than Rousseau or Benford where there are more generally accepted statistical measures. Dawkins would be next, IMO. Aside from Allen, Shakir has been their best offensive skill player, IMO. He's been as expected, IMO. There isn't a complete surprise breakout star like Bernard was last year when he had a splash play season for the ages. 1 Quote

PFF has him as the 12th best CB in the NFL out of 216 and I think he’s better than that. The other elite Bills are imho Cook, Shakir, Brown, Dawkins and Taron Johnson. Groot and Oliver have elite games but aren’t consistent enough to be called elite overall. 1 Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted December 18 Posted December 18 1. Josh 2. Cook 3. Shakir 4. OL 5. Benford 1 Quote

I will say this about Groot.......if the question is who has been the best Bills player the last 2 years who is not Josh Allen, the answer is Groot. He's really, really good. The standard for a DE for the franchise with the NFL's all-time sack leader is pretty high though. 1 Quote
MJS Posted December 18 Posted December 18 I think Benford could be the 2nd best player on the team. He has had an outstanding year, exceeding expectations. He is a good tackler as well, which is big. 1 Quote
JoshAllin Posted December 18 Posted December 18 I'd say Shakir, the offense just looks off without him there (Bal & Hou games) Quote
GunnerBill Posted December 18 Posted December 18 First half of the season I'd have gone Benford for sure. He is still in the mix for me but so are Cook and Spencer Brown. One of those three. 1 Quote

As of right now PFF has him tied 8th. And 4 of the folks above him are pure slots. They have him graded as a top 5 outside corner. 1 Quote
Buffalo Boy Posted December 18 Posted December 18 This is a really tough question!!! I think you could make a legit case for a bunch of them. 2 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted December 18 Posted December 18 I went with Shakir primarily because when we had no other weapons, he kept Movin the chains. He had more tough yards and yes, Cook has been equally important. Coleman emerged 1/3 the way into the season once he was used to NFL speed. Cooper sealed it, not because he’s made this overwhelming impact, but his presence on the field changed how defenses prepare for our offense. The reality is this is a barstool conversation, and the sum of the parts is more significant than one player over another. I just was so happy to finally see Cooper, Coleman, and Shakir along with our stable of backs, and now 2 TE’s healthy. 2 Quote
EmotionallyUnstable Posted December 18 Posted December 18 (edited) I took this as a similar rhetorical lense as I do MVP: who would the bills fear losing most. I went with Bernard. I don’t think it’ll be a popular answer but here is my reasoning. We have excellent tackle depth RBs and replaceable and split time WRs split time, and have disappearing acts DL is a rotation and also goes games with limited impact McD has been great with plug and play members of the secondary, so I think they’d get by Bernard is a team captain, who plays 100% of defensive snaps. He does everything and does so very well. I would not put him in the elite category, but he is a very good leader of the defense. For all the other reasons to dismiss other positions and from what I’ve seen from 43 this year, he’s my pick. Edited December 18 by EmotionallyUnstable 2 Quote
NeverOutNick Posted December 18 Posted December 18 Not an easy question to answer but Shakir is so clutch that he’s my guy for #2. Benford and Taron Johnson are huge too with our safety play being so bad. I love that cook is finally showing some dog and breaking tackles too. He totally flipped my mind on him but the whole RB room has been great. I can’t give it to Groot because the whole line underperforms imo. Groot is a beast and Oliver showed up finally last week and Von is playing better but these dudes are not closers on a consistent basis. They need to function as a unit like our O line come playoff time for us to close out games. Our offense is phenomenal right now though. Even Knox isn’t pissing me off (did you see that catch last week). And Hollins although limited as a WR, is so needed with all the dirty things. Special teams coordinator needed to be fired last year and Bass needs to go. Hyde needs to be starting alongside Rapp while giving bishop some time too (kid can cover better than Hamlin, who can’t, but is still a work in progress). Hyde no matter what you think of his injury history and age, he’s big time come playoff time so that we’re not exposed like we have been. We also need Douglas back. Benford, Douglas and Taron have been living on islands all year and are all great but come playoff time we will be exposed if we keep Hamlin out there. Milano may still be recovering but mentally he’s still miles ahead in coverage than any other LBer not named Bernard so that tandem is needed as well. Just praying that we get the 1 seed, everyone is healthy, and that McD and his defense doesn’t blow it this year because Josh and the offense are on another level this year. Go Bills Quote
chongli Posted December 18 Posted December 18 (edited) Seriously, who voted for Dawkins?? Sure, he has been playing well, but he has the second most penalties of all tackles this season, only slightly behind Laremy Tunsil. He cost us TD with false start penalty at 3rd goal at the 1 last week at Detroit. This partially negates his great play, enough to cost him this vote. Edited December 18 by chongli 1 1 Quote
Sweats Posted December 18 Posted December 18 It's either Cook or Shakir.........either one can break one at any time and they are both "Mr. Reliable", so put me in for either one of these guys. 2 Quote
