There is a national narrative that Mahomes' high ankle is the just same injury he suffered vs. Jags in divisional two years ago, a game to which he returned. It is not. This injury is more serious. And yet, the Chiefs are reluctant to announce they'll sit Mahomes. They will maintain their pursuit of the one-seed is the reason.

But the real reason the Chiefs fear sitting Mahomes is exposing to the league precisely what they are without him. KC has developed a mystique in its dynasty. This mystique keeps them atop power rankings. With the preponderance of one-score games won, this mystique gives the impression that KC pours out just enough rocket sauce to win...but has vast stores of it when needed. We hear how great the team is, with Mahomes having a rather low to middling season, yet so many wins.

We constantly hear how the Bills are carried by JA17 and would be mediocre or less without him. Well, that's correct as it's a QB league.

I submit KC has been carried by Mahomes and his absence will demonstrate how average the team actually is. And that's the last thing the mystique-riding Chefs want to become public.

That team has been carried by their defense and the other teams inexplicably choking in late game situations that honestly doesn't have much to do with the Chiefs.  Mahomes has been whatever in most of their games.

What do you expect him to say. He wants to play and will say anything to not sit.

I’d sit him this week…they probably have a good shot against Houston with wentz.  And if that goes well you can probably sit him for the next 3 weeks if you want.

if you drop one to Houston and panic a bit you can rush mahomes back against pit

Probably a good idea especially since they are playing Saturday and then on Christmas.

You could put a number of QB's of mediocre talent on that roster and they'd succeed.

Tua, for example, would thrive in that system even with a poor OL.

The Chiefs need to be very concerned about their OL.

exactly. That team can win with Wentz. and they should play him just to show how dominant they are.

I feel like their oline was a lot better back then.  Chiefs current situation if mahomes is playing through even a mild injury the risk he hurts something else/aggravates it worse is pretty high.  He’s not going 60 minutes without defenders getting near him anymore and the three defenses he’s seeing in a row could all do some damage

texans seem pretty dirty too.  Pit will hit him hard but I haven’t really noticed too much dirtiness from them

This is every decent team in the league with a star QB, especially us.

Maybe i'm an outlier, but I don't want Mahomes to sit.

I want to beat him fair and square.

Imagine beating the Mahomes-less Chiefs?  We'd NEVER heard the end of it from their fans.

ALLEN > mahomes.   AND, the BILLS > chiefs.
