As does McDermott’s job resurrecting the Bills from laughing stock to perennial winner, its like he has been black balled by those who make that decision…,

or maybe those who make that decision have seen him coach in the playoffs...with the best QB in the NFL.

McD has to produce an AFCC win at some point.  Or at the very least another appearance.

I am continuously puzzled that the bills were talked about as being in a quasi rebuild all offseason, were commonly picked as a team that will miss the playoffs but then they beat the best teams in each conference and have a shot at the 1 seed and mcd isn’t even in the top 6 for coach of the year betting odds? Seems pretty strange to me

I would have no problem with O’Connell getting it or a few of the other guys being mentioned but mcd not even being in the picture is wild

like others have said it does seem like you’re at a big disadvantage if your team performs well but were expected to, but we weren’t expected to 😂

The Vikings head coach is probably a lock for COY.

Yea. I had to fight against the masses pre-season when I was telling people they were too good even with a question mark at QB to end up with a top 10 pick and that the Bills would not be getting a pick in the late 30s as a result of the Diggs trade.

That is irrelevant to coach of the year imo.  Campbell straight up torpedoed his team in the nfc championship last year and just coached his team right out of a huge Super Bowl preview type game and he’s right up near the top.  Andy Reid has had one of the most successful head coaching campaigns in history, his team has 1 loss, and he’s sitting at +1800 to win it. Sirianni has been to a Super Bowl and he’s sitting at +3500

seems like it’s more of a ‘most surprising regular season team’ award. O’Connell will likely get it.  If the lions had the same results without the avalanche of injuries I don’t think Campbell would even be in the running despite the team being very successful.

how is it "irrelevant"?  the guy has a talented roster.   coming up short of the AFCC game every year (but once), while winning at least 10 games a year the past 6 years---at some point people who decide theses this award are obviously going to think it's the HC.

Campbell is the opposite of McD--he's a balls out game day guy who has turned a throwaway 1st round QB into an MVP candidate and a 3-13 generational laughing stock of a franchise into back to back 12 +win seasons (and NFCC game last season).

Vegas odds are a way that industry seeks to separate you from your money.  Reid. out of the top 5 in odds, has no chance.....but people will bet on him despite the relatively poor odds.  He can't win because he is expected to win it all every year.  Tomlin is doing a lot more with less.  Sirianni cannot win this year either--why would he---because his team hasn't fallen apart...yet?

His major achievement is costing the Bills games in the national spotlight.  McClappy is McDone in the COTY conversation.   Besides the Vikes have A BETTER record with Sam Freaking Darnold at QB.   There’s zero hope.

Why is our coach never mentioned in the discussion for coach of the year. This team/ organization was terrible before he got here. All he does is win his first year and get us into the playoffs.  We are basically a lock to win the division every year. This year might be his best job yet. We loose so many veteran players and the beat goes on. Whatever the team needs Coach has stepped up. Last as the D coordinator. This year grooming a young coach. Last year firing Dorsey. He always has the respect and pulse of the team. Why are we as fan not clamoring for him to win Coach of the year. Damn it why is the Bills PR team not doing something. We have to promote this man and give him his flowers now!!!

His use of timeouts the last two weeks is a macrocosm of the last 8 years. I freak every time he calls timeout on third or 4th and long and the other team is scrambling. Sean to the rescue, lets call timeout and make sure we have the correct defense called. Last week was there any chance we weren't calling tush push again if we didn't score on it the first time? Lets call timeout to make sure. Who needs 3 anyways. And taking the holding penalty instead of 4th and 7? Sean lost us that game and almost this one. Do you really think Detroit would have run this play on 4th and ten had Sean not called a timeout to make sure we had the correct defense called? (forward to 4:15)

It's a regular season award

McDermott should have received serious consideration for the award when he broke the drought. Even though they only went 8-8 and needed a Dalton to Boyd miracle from Cincinnati he should have been a strong candidate to win. That team wasn't good. Going into the season I remember many of the "experts" picking them to win 2 or 3 games at most.

The Bills were 9-7 that year not 8-8

Curious how many times an MVP QB and COY have been from the same team.

Does one cancel the other out theory.

I think after Andy Reid wins this week with Carson Wentz @ QB his candidacy for COTY will be in overdrive, and deservedly so.

You can't win coach of the year coming off back to back super bowls lol

It's not like Carson Wentz has been playing 12 weeks

McD never gets any respect for CoY and should have won in 2020, but thinking anyone but Kevin O'Connell deserves to win it this year is crazy. That team was widely expected to be a dumpster fire and now they have an extremely realistic shot at the #1 seed.

This award tends to go to coaches who turn programs around.  Bills are a mature team.  I am certain he will secure some votes, but cant see him winning it.  Hope I am wrong

He’d have to go undefeated or maybe 1 loss to win it now. Not going to happen. Not many even put him in their top 10 coaches.
