Campbell is the opposite of McD--he's a balls out game day guy who has turned a throwaway 1st round QB into an MVP candidate and a 3-13 generational laughing stock of a franchise into back to back 12 +win seasons (and NFCC game last season). Vegas odds are a way that industry seeks to separate you from your money. Reid. out of the top 5 in odds, has no chance.....but people will bet on him despite the relatively poor odds. He can't win because he is expected to win it all every year. Tomlin is doing a lot more with less. Sirianni cannot win this year either--why would he---because his team hasn't fallen apart...yet? playoff success is irrelevant because it’s a regular season award based on which team outperformed expectations the most. If it was in any way based on prior playoff success Reid and sirianni would be leading with the regular seasons they’re having this year. Im not saying mcd should win it by any means, but the nfl analysts all writing the bills off in the offseason should get him in the conversation at least seeing as they’re the people voting on the winner. I think they have taken a more ‘our bad the bills are actually really talented and we just screwed up while buying into the jets hype’ approach though it seems which is a bit of a cop out imo especially when they say we don’t have a lot of stars in the same breath lol. He is in it still, I just figured they’d rank him a little higher. I think he’s 6th right now in most of the sportsbooks. You can think Campbell is great I have absolutely no issue with that and he very well could be the best coach in the nfl. but once you’re perceived to have a great roster the path to coach of the year gets very very difficult independent of how good of a job you’re actually doing. You’re probably gonna lose it to someone with a worse record that turned around a bad team Lamar had a 1-3 playoff record 3td/5 int when he won his second mvp. It just really doesn’t seem to matter. a lot of this mcd can’t do anything right the bills should move on is very localized to half of bills fans. Maybe the group thinking that is 100% correct but in the short term we will be heavily mocked by the nfl world outside Buffalo if we fire mcd this offseason. The coach of the year voters are not seeing what you suggested Edited Tuesday at 10:35 PM by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
OldTimer1960 Posted Tuesday at 10:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:24 PM I don’t think McDermott will lose a second of sleep worrying about whether he wins the award, but he has proven capable of having a consistently good team. This team has so far surpassed most expectations coming into the season and they have proven themselves able to overcome a number of significant injuries. The culture is real and it’s a winning culture. He isn’t perfect, but no coach is. Quote

The coach of the year voters are not seeing what you suggested see above. obviously voters don't think it's that tough to get 12 wins or so a season with Josh Allen. It's why Reid and Sirianni won't win---both have recently been in the SB. Sirianni coached his team off a cliff last year--he's not going to be rewarded as "COTY" for not screwing up a SB caliber roster this season. Edited Tuesday at 11:25 PM by Mr. WEO Quote
Chaos Posted Tuesday at 11:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:30 PM The head coach of the team that wins the Super Bowl should be named coach of the year. Every year. The only coach out of 32 who couldn’t have had a better final outcome. Quote

This team/ organization was terrible before he got here. All he does is win his first year and get us into the playoffs. We are basically a lock to win the division every year. This year might be his best job yet. We loose so many veteran players and the beat goes on. Whatever the team needs Coach has stepped up. Last as the D coordinator. This year grooming a young coach. Last year firing Dorsey. He always has the respect and pulse of the team. Why are we as fan not clamoring for him to win Coach of the year. Damn it why is the Bills PR team not doing something. We have to promote this man and give him his flowers now!!! The part in bold is the problem. He's expected to win and hasn't done anything spectacular from year prior. They've got a little better each year, but only a small improvement over expectations. When you consider how many people we questioning if Bills would even make playoffs, agreed he should be considered much more. Quote
Talley56 Posted Wednesday at 04:21 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:21 AM While I think Dan Quinn should get some consideration, ultimately, it has to be O'Connell. Quote
