kirkwoodus13 Posted December 17 Posted December 17 Why is our coach never mentioned in the discussion for coach of the year. This team/ organization was terrible before he got here. All he does is win his first year and get us into the playoffs. We are basically a lock to win the division every year. This year might be his best job yet. We loose so many veteran players and the beat goes on. Whatever the team needs Coach has stepped up. Last as the D coordinator. This year grooming a young coach. Last year firing Dorsey. He always has the respect and pulse of the team. Why are we as fan not clamoring for him to win Coach of the year. Damn it why is the Bills PR team not doing something. We have to promote this man and give him his flowers now!!! 4 6 6 Quote

Aussie Joe Posted December 17 Posted December 17 We don’t discuss our coach enough here, so a further opportunity in this thread will no doubt prove enlightening.. 2 5 Quote

Turning around a terrible franchise in year 1, with a rookie QB, and making the playoffs (not clinched yet I guess, but looking good). The award is all about which team exceeds preseason expectations the most. It's why McD and Reid will likely never win it in BUF or KC. When you have a top 3 QB the expectation is to be one of the best teams in the league 1 1 Quote
Gregg Posted December 17 Posted December 17 McDermott should have received serious consideration for the award when he broke the drought. Even though they only went 8-8 and needed a Dalton to Boyd miracle from Cincinnati he should have been a strong candidate to win. That team wasn't good. Going into the season I remember many of the "experts" picking them to win 2 or 3 games at most. 2 3 Quote

As does McDermott’s job resurrecting the Bills from laughing stock to perennial winner, its like he has been black balled by those who make that decision…, 1 Quote
kirkwoodus13 Posted December 17 Author Posted December 17 The bills were pick to finish third in the division. The Viking had a good defense that got better.. They have good skill positions that hit better. Arnold is playing better but based on his past it could have only went up. The commanders are in one of worse division in football. But yes their record makes Quinn a contender. The bills were pick to have a loosing record this year. This year was suppose to be a retool/ rebuild year. McDermott has done the best job by far this year 1 1 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted December 17 Posted December 17 It's a funky award. Reid, possibly the best coach today, won the AP Coach of the Year award exactly as many times as Lovie Smith and Wayne Fontes (i.e. once). Smith and Fontes both retired with losing records. Ron Rivera and Kevin Stefanski both won the award twice - once more than Reid. They also both have career losing records. Reid's been a winner everywhere he's coached and has multiple Lombardis. 1 Quote

Yeah you’d think breaking the longest playoff drought in sports with Tyrod Taylor at QB would have been a lock — but Sean McVay broke a 14 year playoff drought for the Rams and resurrected Goff’s career, winning their division in the process. Media was in love right away too, with the move to LA, youngest coach in history, etc etc McVay hype train was too strong. 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted December 17 Posted December 17 You basically get one shot and it's during the upswing/turnaround part of your coaching arc. That would have been 2019-2020 for McD. Quote

You would need to go undefeated to win COTY at this point if you have a franchise QB. Or take over a team like Dallas next year and win 14 games. 1 Quote
