This is funny 😁 Ravens claim Lamar was first to accomplish something Allen did almost 3 years ago

One of my students, who is a Steele fan,  did point out something with this concept of pumping Lamar like this, this year Lamar is statistically much better than last year but Josh is just better in the interceptions. How can Lamar have been a legit MVP if he can improve drastically but not still be better than a guy who is just better in one stat? Basically how was Josh not MVP last year?

Josh had too many INTs last year.  This year he has just 5 and at least 2 were completely the fault of the receiver.

That is wild.  How could they make that mistake?

Yes, January 15th 2022 vs NWE in a 47-17 playoff game.  84% completion for 308 yds, 5 passing TDs, 0 INT, and 6 rushes for 66 yds.

Do the Ravens think it doesn't count because it was in the playoffs against a 10-7 team coached by Bill Belicheck, instead of against a 2-12 Giants team that jettisoned their former 1st round QB a few weeks back and is visibly tanking?

Did someone tell them?

Edit: I messaged the Ravens on Facebook.  Wonder if they'll get back to me.

This is not true.

Their is precedent for giving an MVP with 22 int. It was Kurt Warner, Warner also had 26 total turnovers....

There is no precedent to get MVP and not be top ten in passing yds or passing touchdowns

There is also no precedent for getting a second MVP until you win a super bowl....

Also if you took the difference in turnovers (9 last year ), magically turned them into tds for Lamar, Allen still had more tds.... Lol

Best I can remember, Josh has not thrown 5 TDs in another game. Lamar has done it a few times. He is obviously one of the best playing right now, IMO. Still, I think Josh is the better quarterback, but maybe the Bills let up more than Baltimore after they get up three scores?

That is true, but is number of passing TDs in a game really the metric of a great QB?

I haven't looked, but passing yards aren't correlated with winning, so I dunno if passing TDs are.  I mean, Goff just threw 5 passing TDs vs the Bills, and .... lost?  Josh threw 3 vs the Rams and.... lost?

In the tweet thread, Ravens fans are saying that Lamar did it in the regular season, and playoff stats don't count.

Haha the coping accusations…I think I’d rather do it in a meaningful game against a good defense than a meaningless game against a terrible team missing most of their good players 😂 and on top of that Lamar is pretty bad in the playoffs generally

Right the Bills have the top offense in the league right now or at least top 2 and just tied the record for consecutive 30+ point games. The QB commanding that machine is Allen.

Josh had 2 horrendous games, and besides that was great. Lamar had 2 incredible games, against poor quality teams, and besides that was simply good. I am not stating that Lamar did not deserve consideration but him being unanimous was absurd.

You’re right, he hasn’t but both of their careers are heftily littered with 4 and 3 passing TDs a game.

The point is eyebrows were raised because they claimed him to be “the first ever” to produce that stat line. The context of it being in the regular season only wasn’t, foolishly on their part, provided.

I’ll give credit to Lamar, he’s one of the best in the league. It’s just hilarious that they throw a statistical grouping/metric to showcase a one-of-one.
The playoffs matter. More so. You’re playing the top teams in the conference/league.

Now, 5TDs is still 5TDs and a hell of an accomplishment and he has quite a few for a runner. The even crazier thing is the games he’s thrown 5 in, six total, it’s super efficient. They’re all in the 20-25 passing attempt range. That’s a lot 1/5 to a 1/4 of all passes are a touchdown.

Henry's production has dipped significantly. 82 or less rushing yards in 5 out of the last 7 games. No TDs in the last 3 games.

Lamar throwing 5 TDs should be very encouraging for the rest of the AFC. We want them to be a passing team going into the playoffs.

The question is will monken as the OC be fooled again into trying to force Lamar to be a high volume playoff passer.

I can't imagine the ravens fanbase if they get bounced in the first Rd and it's a game where Lamar is throwing it 30-40x

The rage will be palpable

Last year was indeed a very average year and incredible games? Might only be one. That was the 5 against Miami.

Thing about Lamar is he’s a very efficient QB when you have him playing the system they run.

He’s had 4 pretty solid games this year but they’ve come against teams that, like you said for last year are the same this year poor quality or have had multiple games where they’ve been that level across the board.

Cinci x2

Tampa

NYG

Even more so this year, when you deep dive into the stats. When Lamar is being put in a situation to pass more than 25 times the Ravens have lost.

There’s 2 games over that number in which they won. And that’s 2 of those referenced above. Both Cincinnati, and we know how horrendous they are as a defensive unit lol

Again, I give Lamar a lot of credit. He’s a menace but the team doesn’t appear to be winning games when he’s having to sling it.

People say KC showed everyone how to shut them down in the AFCC last year. I disagree. Baltimore showed you themselves how to beat them.
They abandoned their running game, even with Lamar, and had him out there as a predominately passing QB.

For future reference, I think that the Ravens should just assume that if they think Jackson has set some kind of QB record, that Allen has already done it first.

Allen holds so many of these types of records that you lose count.

Posted

Just for reference...

Most 5 TD games (passing and rushing TDs combined)

Brees: 15

Brady and Manning: 11

Rodgers, Mahomes, and Jackson: 7

Big Ben, Marino, Blanda: 6

Josh Allen and Russell Wilson: 5

Goff, Watson, Stafford, Culpepper, Favre, Moon: 4

The perfect game.  Patriots

It's still up.  You just click the link

Doing this in the playoffs is huge with very little acknowledgment outside of western ny

What’s even more hilarious is both Josh and Lamar were 21/25. 84% completion & 5TDs

Lamar? 290 passing. 65 rushing.

Josh? 308 passing. 66 rushing.

Difference? Superman did his in the playoffs. Then proceeded to follow it up with another magical performance in another win or go home game.

I doubt Lamar puts up a stat line against Pittsburgh of at least   73% 329yards 4td 0int, 68 rushing

Good observations.  You should post this on X.

Fun fact...looking up Post Season career QB Rating, Allen is 7th all time(used to be first, will probably be at some point again).

Lamar is...I don't know because they only list the top 50 QBs and he ain't one of them 🤣🤣🤣
