Expand He's clearly not used to running with guys that can move like Jameson Williams. His angles are off and he's going to need to adjust them to be in position. Fortunately I think he can; and the best way to practice that might be to get him "up to speed" over the next 3 weeks. 5 9 Quote

St Brown was 4 for 4 matched against Elam but only for 38 yards. Bernard gave up 158 yards on 9 targets. Expand yeah, but I’m trying to see who “worked” Elam. The only catch he gave up to Williams was one that included a questionable push off at the top of his route. Im not the biggest Elam fan but people seem to just designate him as borderline useless whilst others get a complete pass. Given his lack of playing time and the matchup St. Brown brings, I thought he was pretty darn good. 4 5 Quote

Jameson Williams' speed was new to him and he'll need to get better by adjusting his angles to guys that can run like that. Most of the completions that came in his general area seemed to me to be more of a LB or Lewis issue. 1 2 Quote

Bishop is a big play waiting to happen for the opponents offense. Expand Elam was hardly noticeable yesterday. A few plays but nothing serious. When you give up 500 yards passing and 5 TDs it’s probably a good thing your not noticed. Other then Benfords sack and forced fumble he got worked all game. The safety play was pretty bad, all 3 guys that got time. Taron had a rough day as well. LBers were awful Edited December 16, 2024 by BananaB 2 Quote

TFBillsfan Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 One thing I really struggle with is why Elam has been inactive. Regardless, it’s good to know he can jump in if Douglas or Benford are hurt. Still don’t know what we have with Bishop as he can’t stay healthy enough to get on the field consistently. Overall, the core issue on D is the DL. If you can’t consistently sack the QB or get pressure, almost any NFL QB will pick you apart! Quote

And I agree with your other post that Elam was just fine last night. Not only in coverage, but without his physical hustle, Milano probably does not recover that fumble. 1 Quote
pi2000 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 The 500 yards given up was mostly due to game script. 1 Quote
Snappysnackcakes Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 What I think needs to happen is a more simplified defensive game plan, as was the case yesterday. We won’t have to play another game in a dome unless we make the Super Bowl. This makes me happy because we just get diced up by good QB’s in controlled environments. Yes, I consider LA a controlled environment. Quote

PoundingDog Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Elam's tackling still needs work. He's trying to pry the ball out instead of tackling too many times. Bishop is way too conservative on passing plays, as in try not to get beat deep. I think Romo even said that to the tune of the safety can tighten up in the middle some. In other words, Bishop is not playing free at the moment, which is understandable at this stage of her NFL career. 3 Quote
