PromoTheRobot Posted Monday at 06:45 PM Posted Monday at 06:45 PM But we also need to step back and see we scored 48 points. How many NFL games have a team scoring 48 points? Not scoring a few times when your score 48 is just regression to the mean. Quote
Mango Posted Monday at 06:47 PM Posted Monday at 06:47 PM (edited) He has been above average since he made that 61 yarder. The offense has been scoring a ton and he's been good on a lot of XP attempts and he got a 50 yarder for us. I think part of it was that broken ankle that happened right before, but that's also part of being a kicker. So not a great excuse. But still a talking point. If he hadn't missed the short one I might have let him have a go at that 66 yarder. But Bass missing two kicks in row, even though one was a bit of a hail mary, wasn't something I wouldn't want to risk. (plus field position. EDIT: For reference he is 23/24 on XP and 9/11 since that FG vs Miami https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/3917232/tyler-bass Edited Monday at 06:51 PM by Mango Quote
eSJayDee Posted Monday at 06:50 PM Posted Monday at 06:50 PM Now that you mention it, I do recall thinking that he looked oddly "very soccer style", ie like he was going to kick it right, rather than you'd think he'd come more straight on in that instance so he would kick across to his left. Quote
PonyBoy Posted Monday at 06:51 PM Posted Monday at 06:51 PM Bass kicks FG's like I hit tee shots. I know I'm going to slice right, so I play left...unless I hit the SOB straight as an arrow sometimes 🤬 1 Quote

My son and I can’t bear to watch and we leave the room on pretty much all field goals, while my other son reports back what happened. 1 Quote
Draconator Posted Monday at 07:28 PM Posted Monday at 07:28 PM For what it's worth, Bass was nailing field goals pre game from 65 with room to spare yesterday. He'll be fine. Quote

Look how his body facing'. Did anyone else have a similar take on it or have that sense, even before the kick? There was just something awkward about the way he approached the ball from that hash. I'm convinced he has a mechanical issue that can be corrected. Maybe some time with Jordan Palmer's high tech analytics stuff would help? There was a thread yesterday… Quote
Blackbeard Posted Monday at 07:52 PM Posted Monday at 07:52 PM Bass seems to be great from far and not so great from closer. He's here for the playoffs. We need to support him. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted Monday at 07:57 PM Posted Monday at 07:57 PM He made two perfect kicks and all his XPs under more pressure later in the game. It's all mental. He's a worry but far less of a worry than this defense. Quote
Just in Atlanta Posted Monday at 09:51 PM Posted Monday at 09:51 PM For objective analysis, Bass' 2025 stats: Field goals 15th in FG attempts at 26 26th in FG % at 80.8% Extra points 2nd in XP attempts at 54 32nd in XP % at 92.6% Long 3rd with a 61-yarder Subjectively, he's more of a Bass-o-Maybe 1 1 1 Quote
Jimmy Harris 69 Posted Tuesday at 02:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:18 AM The Chiefs former practice squad kicker Mathew K. Wright, waived a couple days ago, is life time 51-59 or 86.4%. 11 of 11 from 20-29yds 19-20 from 30-39yds 14-17 from 40-49yds 7-11 from 50-59yds This is a guy we ought to take a look at if he gets through waivers. BillsFanForever19 Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM (edited) In his presser after hitting the 61 yard game winner against the Dolphins, he was asked if he did anything differently for such a long kick? I remember his answer being that it doesn't matter if it's 20 or 60 that he lines up and kicks the ball the same way every time. I thought that was a really weird answer and couldn't possibly be true. But if that's true, it'd explain why his short kicks often get f'ed up. Edited Tuesday at 02:36 AM by BillsFanForever19 Quote

Probably never realized it because who the hell misses a 24yd FG? seriously? How long has this been a rule? I can honestly say I’ve never seen it 1 Quote

What does height have to do with anything? There are plenty of NFL kickers that are my height (5'9") and are very accurate. 2 Quote
