SoMAn Posted Monday at 06:01 PM Posted Monday at 06:01 PM When Bass lined up for the short FG, I immediately said to my wife, 'he's going to miss. Look how his body facing'. Did anyone else have a similar take on it or have that sense, even before the kick? There was just something awkward about the way he approached the ball from that hash. I'm convinced he has a mechanical issue that can be corrected. Maybe some time with Jordan Palmer's high tech analytics stuff would help? 2 2 1 Quote

I don’t know enough about kicking mechanics but it’s embarrassing for him to have the yips on short kicks. He absolutely buried dead center almost every one of his other kicks and he’s been mostly accurate but the ones he does miss are absolutely mind blowingly completely shanked not even close. It’s like he thinks too much on short ones and long ones he just lets it rip 1 Quote

You might be on to something because he is money from the left hash. His kicks fade right and from the right hash it seems like he’s afraid of starting it out left of center in fear of it not coming back. Don’t you think his special teams coach should be able to make adjustments. 3 Quote

He has that natural fade, and I think he changes something when at the right hash. for those short ones, similar to a golfer with a wedge shot, you wonder if ought to have a different swing. Maybe more of a punch kick. Edited Monday at 06:20 PM by Miyagi-Do Karate Quote
Success Posted Monday at 06:21 PM Posted Monday at 06:21 PM That was a rough miss in those circumstances - mainly because we should have easily scored a TD there, so coming away w/ no points at all was a setback. But in general, he seems to be back in a pretty good groove. I don't think he'll ever be a top 5 or 10 kicker, but he's solid enough right now. Kickers seems to be missing a lot of kicks every Sunday around the league. 1 1 Quote
Sweats Posted Monday at 06:24 PM Posted Monday at 06:24 PM Honestly, i don't pay much attention when any kicking is going on..........FG's and extra points is when i get up for a beer, piss break, etc. 1 1 3 Quote

T.E. Posted Monday at 06:34 PM Posted Monday at 06:34 PM I don't even want to mention it, but kicker issues almost always rear their head in the postseason. 1 1 1 Quote

I'm lately leaning that he will miss the kick. ANY kick. 1 Quote
Billsfed1 Posted Monday at 06:40 PM Posted Monday at 06:40 PM Absolutely 💯. Had the exact same discussion. Basically we both said this draft it’s a priority. The screwy thing is, we’ll burn a draft pick on replacing him, possibly on the heels of the biggest game of the year and he’ll out perform his replacement because that’s how it rolls around here Quote
zow2 Posted Monday at 06:40 PM Posted Monday at 06:40 PM Watching Bass there was like watching a pro golfer rimming out a 6-inch tap in putt. It happens, but let's hope it only happens once in 10 years or whatever... Quote
sullim4 Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Out of curiosity - what is his accuracy from each hash? I can't find that anywhere. Quote
Rubes Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Posted Monday at 06:42 PM As soon as I saw him lining up from the right hash mark, I thought we might be in trouble. Quote
CaseyatBat Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Posted Monday at 06:42 PM they gotta get rid of him its going to cost us a playoff game... again Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Posted Monday at 06:42 PM The Bates miss negated the Bass miss. It's a bigger flub to not get a TD when you were goal to go from the 1. 5 Quote
The Wiz Posted Monday at 06:43 PM Posted Monday at 06:43 PM What I never knew, or just failed to ever realize was because he missed a 24yd FG, Lions got the ball on the 20 instead of the 17 because when the ball is within the 20, the offense gets the ball at the 20 by default. Probably never realized it because who the hell misses a 24yd FG? 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted Monday at 06:44 PM Posted Monday at 06:44 PM It might be worth just having a practice squad guy in there just to pressurize him every day. I think he responded when they did that. I am not as worried about bass as some. His leg is not shot like a Tucker or hauschka his last year. Quote
