Hearing a lot about how the last two weeks are unsustainable for the Bills D, especially when you get into the playoffs. Also hearing about how the last two weeks weren't necessarily an accurate picture of the defense, since it was against a Rams offense playing a perfect game and operating at an elite level, and a Lions team that was playing largely from behind.

 

Not sure I buy that. I have my concerns.

 

This week the defense should  have no problems against a below average Pats**** offense. But we also know that we split with them last year against a terrible QB, and both games against them were close. It should still be a Bills win—but how close it is really depends on the Bills defense. Are they really as bad as we've seen over the past couple of weeks? Or was it really just the context of those two games?

 

We'll see...

 

I think there is some merit in those arguments, but I agree there is still reason to be concerned about the Bills' D.  It is much more of an issue versus some teams, less of an issue versus most teams.  For instance, should Buffalo make it to the Super Bowl and Philadelphia is the NFC opponent, I think Saquon Barkley could be a real headache for the Bills.

I agree, but I'll also admit I was equally worried about the Lions runners. I mean, the Lions have one of the best running games in the league with that two-headed monster of theirs. But the Bills bottled them up from the start, and fortunately the Bills jumped out to a big enough lead that they somehow felt the need to abandon the run game.

 

I honestly have no idea if the Bills defense is pretty good or absolute trash, or somewhere in between.

 

That's why I'm looking forward to seeing how they do against a below-average offense. If they truly are trash, the Pats**** might give us headaches. If not, then we should see a dominating performance overall.

I fear the Bills coordinators sandbag against bad teams so they can break tendencies and roll out new twists against better teams. I fear it for the next three weeks anyways. Bodes well for the playoffs actually, if that's in fact the case.

I think if we played Philly we’d go a lot of base defense packages with 3 LBs on the field.

There is not a trade any team could make that I would entertain. Honestly if the bills ever let Josh walk it’ll be the day I no longer go out of my way to watch the NFL

It's kind of a cool rhetorical question... what would it cost for a team to successfully trade for Josh Allen?

 

Some of us here are old enough to remember when Mike Ditka ran the Saints and traded his entire draft for Ricky Williams.

 

What would Josh be worth? 5 entire drafts? Six?

It will be a test because the Pats defense is pretty good, especially in the defensive backfield.  If the Bills give them over 30 this could be a bad Sunday.

I would be shocked if this Pats team scores over 30 on us, let alone 20.  We just played two of the best offenses we’ll play all season in pristine conditions.  Now we play a rookie QB in Orchard Park who is on an offense devoid of weapons and any sort of protection.  Drake Maye is the one most likely to have a bad Sunday.

Just saw that the Pats placed Christian Barmore, DT, on the reserve non-football-injury list due to a recurrence of blood clots. 

 

Scary diagnosis for anyone.

Damn...that's definitely scary...I had one before due to being immobile prior to a hip replacement where my hip would dislocate randomly from walking so I had to be on a knee scooter for several weeks prior.

 

Ended up having 3 PEs also and I know exactly when those happened as well...was doing some swiss ball exercises and suddenly couldn't breathe well and it felt like something got "caught" in my chest.

 

Luckily ended up getting on eliquis after the surgery when they found them and haven't had any issues since.

 

I would suspect he has some sort of genetic factors causing blood clots as this is the thing my hematologist said would happen in your 20s if you were pre-disposed to it.

Divisional games are always weird and I do think we're nearing the point (or already there) where Brady/Babich won't be emptying the playbook, won't be putting guys at risk, etc. But yeah a December game at Orchard Park against a rookie QB on a team with very little talent whose management would probably actually prefer a higher draft pick. You should win.
