They weren't flexed this week.  Next week they were flexed out of SNF to 4:05 because nobody wants to watch Dolphins-Browns.

 

This week WE were flexed to 4:25 so Dolphins-Niners won't be CBS' flagship late game.

 

Your mom will still have to watch them, unfortunately.

I love the wild variance in the metrics.  espn has KC as the second best line in all of football.  On the flip side SIS has Miami as 3rd?  i think PFF seems the best ranking to my eye which is wild.

That’s without a doubt a little too high for them at minimum because the ESPN score is absolutely ridiculous haha but I think Thuney/Humphrey and to a lesser extent Smith cancel out the bad tackles and get them ranked pretty high in metrics like this.

 

it’s easier to see what’s not working well but Humphrey and Thuney are probably the best pass blockers at their position in the league and Trey smith is definitely good too.  
 

I don’t dig into kc a ton despite watching the games but I wonder if some of the issue is Reid scheming up plays that don’t give his tackles a lot of help.  Most teams with a weak link or two on the OL do a lot to help at least one of those guys out.  Usually when it’s noticeable I’ll see a maxx Crosby type just destroying them coming off the edge one on one.

The Bills were a bad team the same as the Pats are a terrible team right now. It is what it is.

Watching Allen and this team the last 5 plus years its obvious.  Thats the difference between good teams and bad ones.  Bad ones find a way to lose.  Mistakes and errors.  With salary caps, draft order and pretty equal resources it comes down to coaching and qb play.  Every team gets bad calls good teams eat it and move on.  They make enough plays where that doesn't decided it.  When given a chance they capitalize, bad teams do not.

Toohill is back...Ankou is gone from PS...I am guessing due to Jefferson and Phillips both being here now creating extra bodies at DT.

Weird about Ankou. I thought whenever he played he was pretty effective

I would have kept him over someone like Jefferson

An interesting gauge of this game and where Krafty Bob's team stands as a franchise is a look back at NE v Buffalo matchups when the shoe was on the other foot - the Pats were a great team with a gaudy record leading the division and battling for a top playoff spot whilst hosting the Bills when they sucked....I did not cherry pick these years (felt 2010 was a good starting point with Brady two years removed from his ACL)....anyway...
2010 Pats beat a pesky Buffalo (4-12) team 38-30
2011 Pats beat Bills (6-10) 49-21 but Buffalo jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first Q
2012 Pats beat Bills (6-10) 37-31
2013 Pats beat Bills 34-20 but score is 16-10 in the 4th quarter
2014 - Pats rest starters, not applicable
2015 - Pats beat Bills (8-8) 20-13
2016 - Pats lose to Bills (7-9) 16-0 (Brissett started w Jimmy G hurt)
I stopped at 2016 because in 2017 Buffalo was decent in McDermott's first year
So what we have here are many examples of very weak often last place Bills teams going into Foxboro playing competitive games vs the Patriots, who in each of these seasons were a bye week team (one of the top two in the conference).
So this week, we have a weak, last place Patriots team heading into a Buffalo club making a push for the #1 seed. Somehow Buffalo managed to remain competitive vs the Patriots when faced with the same situation for the better part of seven seasons.
Buffalo coaches during that span? A murderer's row of coaching intelligentsia the likes of Chan Gailey, Doug Marrone, and Rex Ryan.
Can Kraft's show and tell exhibit Jerod Mayo pull off what those three modern day Knute Rocknes pulled off - remain competitive with the top team in the AFC? Somehow I doubt it.
Time will tell..

Jefferson has position flex and can play DT or DE.  
 

If they’re rolling with Smoot, Rousseau, Epenesa, Von and Solomon, that’s two guys in Smoot/Rousseau that are good edge setters and then three guys who are better against the pass.

Thoughtful, intelligent, and nice.... I agree.

 

There are some posters here who downplay those qualities, they are cynical about them. They come out during the draft "Oh great, another team Captain" or "Another process pick." They are on the wrong side of history.

This is such a crazy year.  The Bills have beaten last year’s Super Bowl teams. Beaten the 1 loss Lions, arguably the best team in the league this year.  Josh is currently the consensus league MVP. We have the 2nd best record in the AFC, and are the eastern division champs.   
 

… and there’s 3 more games still to be played in the regular season!      It’s just ridiculous.  
 

I just hope the team can maintain focus and play to their standard and not down to the Patsies or Jets standards.   And, of course, stay healthy.   This is unfamiliar territory.   Every week brings risk.. I just hope the Bills play focused, play hard and keep this rolling. 
 

One thing I liked about the Lions game that I don’t think is being talked about much is the Bills offense put a lot of new looks on tape.  How can anyone play the bills and not pay attention to the running backs?   Hopefully we can continue to put new looks on tape and continue to give our opposition in the playoffs to think about them they can handle while continuing to win.
