Because the Chiefs, Steelers and Ravens all play on Wednesday (Christmas Day) during week 17 and the bills play the following Sunday.. . the bills will have the advantage of knowing the outcome of those games before they step foot on the field.

If the following happens the bills will have the #2 seed locked up and may sit starters for 2 WHOLE WEEKS:

#1 Kc Wins their next two games

#2 Baltimore beats Pittsburgh but loses the following week against Houston.

#3 Buffalo beats New England

The starters can't sit for that long. If the games mean nothing I could see the starters playing a couple of series and then getting pulled after that.

Allen MVP stats

This is what I'm concerned about.  Imagine allen only plays one more game while lamar plays 3 more :

Allen stats:

15 games played

4,300 total yards

40 total Tds

5 INT

Lamar stats

17 games

5,400 total yards

45 TDs

4 INT

Head to head win vs Allen

If Pitt beats balt can’t the stretch it till week 17 for 2 seed?  What am I missing?

I'm hoping the opposite: that the last game is super meaningful because the Chiefs have dropped two of three, and beating the Pats means we get the 1 seed!

Chiefs still need to play Steelers, Texans, and Broncos.  If they lose all three of those games, the Bills could end up getting the one seed, if they win out.

So risk a season-ending injury to Allen and a chance at the Superbowl to pad stats for the MVP? No thanks

Yes.  But they play the chiefs in week 17 and my previous point mentioned the chiefs winning their next two. So in that scenario Pittsburgh is 11-5 heading Into the final week.  Bills would be 12-3 and hold the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh for the #2 seed.

I never said that?  I'm concerned he could lose the mvp trophy by no fault of his own.

For some reason I just feel kc isn't gonna win their next 2 games. They're not just gonna beat up on the steelers. Browns defense was killing Mahomes, I can only imagine what the steelers d will do

Nope...

Even if all these happen, if the Steelers finish 12-5, with their only loss to KC, they'd win a tiebreaker with the Bills (Best win % in conference games).

Need to finish a game ahead of PIT, otherwise, they're probably getting the tiebreaker.

If the BIlls and Steelers both finish 12-5, the Steelers get the tiebreaker

Depends on the status of Kermit.

Without him, they could drop all 3!

Mmmm maybe depends on how invested Texans and Broncos are in their games against the Chiefs.

I think the Steelers will be, win or lose Saturday against Baltimore.

The Texans just clinched their division. Could have a let-down game like the Bills clinching the division. They are guaranteed to host a playoff game. May have outside shot to move up to 2nd seed (unlikely) or 3rd seed (more realistic). What does a 3rd seed buys you instead of the 4th seed?

The last game at Denver, everything might be sewed up by then.

Yep. You're right.  The steelers don't currently hold the tiebreaker over the bills but could still potentially.

So what needs to happen is slightly more unlikely (i updated the original post):

#1 Kc Wins their next two games

#2 Baltimore beats Pittsburgh but loses the following week against Houston.

#3 Buffalo beats New England

Broncos, not the Chargers.

If we win out I think they only need to lose two games, for us to get the one seed. (We have the tiebreaker, having beaten them.)
