Brady had a solid gameplan........the Lions LB'ers are suspect and obviously their weakest link, so attacking them over the middle was their best option, which didn't really involve Cooper all that much.

You answered your own question. The bills obviously liked the matchup up in man to man coverage of Ty Johnson on a lb. It worked. Also the te had a good game. Coleman only had one catch on a broken play. Shakir didn’t light it up. That was a team win.

I don’t think Hopkins has a catch either.

All the bills wr's were down yesterday. Coleman had 1 catch, Shakir didn't have his normal targets. Ty Johnson led in receiving. It's just how it goes sometimes. I'm not worried personally. Every week is different

He was busy getting the Tight Ends and Running Backs open.

And ya know what? It's fine.

Last week he was a big part of the offensive success. This week, he was not. At least not in a tangible way. I'd have to watch the All-22 to know if he was commanding extra defensive attention.

But the Bills, by acquiring him, were not saying "you're going to be the new focal point of our offense". They've shown that they're going to stick to their "everybody eats" mantra, spread the ball around, and there will be a new offensive hero every week. Even Khalil Shakir was not All-World against the Lions. He had a good day, but not a great one. Coleman had ONE catch.

Instead, we had big plays by Cook, Johnson, Davis, Knox, Kincaid. In fact, reading that list back, it seems clear to me: The Bills felt they could exploit the Lions' linebackers. And exploit them they did.

Cooper or no, everybody eats. Prime Jerry Rice could walk through the door tomorrow, and I still think: "everybody eats". It's why Brady's offense is working so well right now and why Josh is playing so free. He can just execute the gameplan and find the open man and not have to massage any egos. It's working.

Listen to Dan Orlovsky in the first few minutes of his interview on OBL.  He's basically confused by all the complaints about Cooper and talks about how much of an influence he had on our passing game without a single target... all because of his gravity from just being on the field.

If those areas mean Ty Johnson, Kincaid and Shakir are the ones getting space to work, that's where the ball is going to go.

It will be interesting to see how he attacks the Jets defense and the overrated Gardner. I'd like to see the offense work outside the hashes and think we have the chance against the Patriots - just for some reps. We can find some success there and move to the playoffs.

 

I'd also like to run a lot of screens. Get them on tape, especjally when successful. Our offense putting together a successful screen game this late in the season would be remarkable but integral into possession and strategic planning. Together with a successful play action it will allow us to have our choice of direction on offense.
