With the way Mahomes has been brutalized this season, and the anemic offensive numbers they have, this would be huge If Mahomes lost while playing on the gimpy ankle. Then he would be forced to play four days later against TJ Watt and Co.

It didn’t seem that bad when you watched it live. Even Mahomes said he could’ve played on if the game was tighter. But now that he’s gimpy there’s a big risk of it being worse with the pass rush they will be facing in the next few games.

Except that Mahomes never loses on gimpy ankles. Have you watched the last 5 years?  

He hasn't been remotely brutalized and defenses can't bang QBs anymore. He's fine. He'll be fine.

OK, impartial judge? He’ll be fine until he’s not. Nothing lasts forever and the end of this run is coming. If you think his stats, which are the worst of his career, are not related to his Tackles inability to protect him without holding penalties, you’re just a delusional Mahomes groupie. How many games with the bottom feeders can you win on the last play of the game without coming away saying this is a different team. He’s the best QB in football, but with the limited cap space, they’re not surrounding him with a quality O-line or a vertical threat. Let’s see how he plays the next 2 or three games. Brady eventually got beat and those teams were better than KC. The Chiefs are not better than Buffalo, Baltimore, Philly or Green Bay. You think that Mahomes will continue to pull these games out of his rear end while getting pounded at a rate that’s not sustainable, be my guest.

So Mahomes is probably 99% likely to play Saturday (on espn the line went from Houston -2.5 to now KC -3). Houston kind of stinks now though so I'm not sure they were beating KC with or without Mahomes.

I know we are supposed to move away from Gregg Williams' way of targeting injured player, but you know NFL is still, for the most part, a testosterone-driven  contest, especially for non skill players. DeMeco Ryans is a former linebacker in that era. Do you think he'll challenge his D players to "test" Mahomes' ankles? I hope he does. In a way it helps his team this Saturday and for the rest of of the playoff bound teams, the "test" result is as important.

 

By the way I totally get that Mahomes may play because QB does not need to push off his ankles like other skill players if you have an arm strong enough to do most of the throws. Let him. I want to see the "test" result.

That Oline for KC is as poor as it has ever been.  In 2021 they had Hill to keep defense back.  Im not sure Houston has the creativity on offense to score enough to beat KC.   I do know that Dline will be all over Mahomes.  HOU, PIT, and Denver are going to beat up KC on offense.  Without a Bye they will be in trouble.  There is a world where they lose out.  They are playing these tough 1 score games.  It is going to flip sooner or later.

I’m not nearly as high on Houston as you are.  

 

Stroud has regressed from last season and Bobby F’N Slowik went from an OC some Bills fans were drooling to fire McDermott for, to a poor man’s Todd Downing in less than 12 months.  

 

The defense is ok but it can be had and as good as Stingley is at CB, teams have had success throwing against their secondary.  
 

And for all the crap McDermott gets, I’d argue that DeMeco Ryans is an even worse game manager. 
 

So while Houston has a nice collection of individual players I’m not sold they can beat KC, especially since I think Mahomes is fine.

The end of the run came vs Buffalo. Then they kept right on going again.

Neither QB has star receivers. (Both have one that's older basically ,I guess)

Yes KC is better than Baltimore. That won't change till Jackson is gone. He's nothing more than the Dominique Wilkins of the NFL. 

If kC does happen to see GB,Phila, in SB. They will beat them. I doubt GB gets there.

They are currently top 2 in INTs and top 2 in NY/A. They have seen the 10th most passing attempts and allowed the 6th least passing yards.
