It does but on a cold day in Kansas City that might mean a little less, especially if Mahomes is sitting.  I think they’ll sit everyone who’s not 100%.

Mostly true. But they do have a chance to catch Steelers and they play Ravens at home on Christmas Day. So if they beat the Chiefs and the Ravens beat Steelers this Saturday. On Chrismas night they may be the 3rd seed. 

 

What does a 3rd seed mean to them? Maybe not much. Looks like the 5th seed will be either the Steelers or Ravens. The 3rd seed will play either Chargers or Broncos.

I think he sits this week and they re-assess before the Steelers game.  They’ve won the Super Bowl twice without the first seed, so it’s not the end of the world…it’s far more important to go into the playoffs with a healthy Mahomes.

I think he plays.  With how that O-line is playing Houston will be a problem.  I'd sit Mahomes Sat.  Get him ready for Christmas.  Get the o-line together this week with Wentz.  They are playing Thunney at LT?  They have massive issues to work through.

I follow a guy named Ken Massey who does some pretty sophisticated statistical modeling in a lot of sports, pro and college.  He has the highest home field this year in Buffalo and Green Bay at +1.45 pts [probably the two most rabid fan bases].  Lowest is +1.28 for the woeful Giants, where I suspect there is a lot of season ticket secondary resale to tourists going on. so 2.5 - 3 pts is probably a pretty good factor to use home vs. road.

I agree it be smart to let him rest as they've got another game 4 days later on Christmas day. Yet am not sure Mahomes' hubris will allow him to sit.

They don't have a choice. They are going to lose the one seed possibly with Mahomes hobbled

Probably the worse time this "injury" could have happened. 2 games in 10 days and both teams have the ability to get to the QB. If he is truly limited this could make him a sitting duck for those D-Lines. If he plays I see a lot of screen passes

Number 1 seed is nice, but if he aggravates it and is lost for playoffs, much worse.  Depends of course if he can aggravate, but given the injury seems he most certainly can even with lots of tape.

They look absolutely exhausted and running on fumes. So idk. I saw Kelce in the browns game and he looked like he had nothing left. They desperately need rest

 

I understand KC and Mahomes should get the benefit of the doubt but they look bad. They look like us at the end of 22.... Or the Steelers in 20

 

Idk if they'll beat a Baltimore or Houston right now.

If the Steelers beat Baltimore on Saturday, the Chiefs’ next two games would be against playoff teams with very little to play for and every incentive to rest players…there’s a good chance that Denver won’t have any reason to try hard in the last game of the season, too, other than their hatred of KC…unfortunately, that’s just the way the schedule has worked out.  We can’t complain; our last three games are against complete tomato cans….

Agree.  #1 seed might not be great as it could be Baltimore in round #2.

I honestly might pick Baltimore or Houston to beat them in the playoffs if they don't get rest. Their nickel CB Conner had a severe concussion, and again they look exhausted on the field. Like I said running on fumes

Agreed.  I expect him to play.  I think Reid needs to play the long game.  Getting beat up by both Houston and Pittsburgh in 5 days wouldn't be great for them.  I think they drop one of those games with Mahomes.
