zow2 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Ouch! thank god for JA17 and the offense on this brilliant win today, but what do we make of this? I really don’t think this pass defense the last two weeks can lead them to an AFC title let alone Super Bowl. How does it get fixed? 6 2 1 1 1 1 Quote
Danger Mouse Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Perhaps not. But we've beaten the Lions and the Chiefs now. So which passing team are you scared of playing? 3 2 2 Quote

Not having to run our 4th and 5th safeties against the NFL's leading offense might make a difference. 11 5 2 Quote
Donuts and Doritos Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It's a new style of defense we're trying. Called get out of the way so 17 can get back on the field. 7 Quote

Einstein Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I’m concerned. Id be more willing to blame the safeties if we didn’t look the exact same with our starting safeties last week. And against Baltimore. 3 Quote

Though it's not the pass defence. We struggle v elite HBs and have done for a while. 2 1 Quote

It looks very bad on paper but I think the score today was a bit misleading. That long TD pass to Amon was almost a fluke. Bernard got a hand on it but it still went directly to him. Also the Bills were using players like Baylon Spector and Cole Bishop and Detroit picked on both repeatedly. They have a LOT to work on on defense. But enjoy this win 2 2 1 Quote
BuffaloBaumer Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A lot of the lions offense was come from behind yards where that would not happen if a team was buckling down. Let’s not forget the Lions were hands-down the Super Bowl favorites and they just let up 48 points to your Buffalo Bills. 2 1 Quote

zow2 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Although the secret sauce of this defense are takeaways. and the takeaway in the 3rd quarter changed the entire complexion of the game. 1 3 Quote

I think it's more about McD's stubborness to stick to that soft zone scheme. We got away from it early and often, so it wasnt like we were stuck due to personnel. And most importantly, it WORKED, when we brought heat and went to man. But then we so predictably fall back into our soft zone, and they score in like 5 plays. A 14 pt lead in the 1st quarter isnt enough to go prevent. 2 Quote
Ben Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We beat the NFC number one seed on the road. It was closer than it should have been but we really should feel good about this. 1 4 3 Quote
GunnerBill Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It is definitely concerning. It is the worst defense of the McDermott era. I thought last week was a bit more on coaching than talent. I thought this week was a bit more on talent than coaching. It's a combination of both and I don't know what the fix is. 1 2 Quote
