Awwufelloff Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Why do teams go lateral? Kick it straight forward and have kicker ram the guy catching it. I’ve never seen an onside kick like that. Would definitely increase chances from 3%… 2 1 3 Quote
Billsfanatic8989 Posted December 16 Posted December 16 My issue is teams have to wait until the 4th quarter. Like why? It's stupid. 3 2 Quote

It's always been one of the more successful ways to do it Edited December 16 by Buffalo716 4 1 2 Quote

I know it was bang, bang and that is hard for the officials to see, but definitely should have been a flag. 5 7 1 Quote

Einstein Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Both of the lions onside kicks were played really well. The first kick was a great play by Hollins, but a perfect kick by the Lions. 3 Quote

Bray Wyatt Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Bobby April ran one where he lined them up on each side of the kicker close to him, then kicked it like that, gave more guys a chance to get to it, not sure why no one tries that anymore Quote

Beast Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Have a linebacker specialize in on-side kicks and level the player. Quote

In hindsight, the lions should have done onsides kicks all game! 2 Quote

Simon Posted December 16 Posted December 16 Props to Bernard for the sneaky punch-in before Taron had that ball corralled. 4 Quote

Look up Mark Pike. 3 1 1 Quote

Would definitely increase chances from 3%… Surprise onside kicks have usually been successful when kicked straight and thr kicker or ones next to him recovered. the problem is it’s hard to get the high bounce that you usually recover kicks from or to get the ball to travel 10 yards Quote

Pike, I believe, blew up the return man on that one. But this one the Lions did was just about perfect. That ball was loose in there for a bit. 1 Quote
PoundingDog Posted December 16 Posted December 16 The Bills had "hands" on both sides with Shakir and Hollins. Taron might have the better hands on defense now that Hyde is not back there. But I'd put Coleman in Taron's place for onside kick defense in the future. Quote

Also you’re asking your kicker to do a lot. Not only kicking the ball perfectly but also delivering a big collision and possibly coming out of the scum with the football. That’s less than ideal and you don’t want your kicker hurt. 6 minutes ago, Mikie2times said: Was going to say. Pike, I believe, blew up the return man on that one. IIRC Pike laid out the Oiler going for the ball and Christie recovered. Quote
TFBillsfan Posted December 16 Posted December 16 I’m not a fan of the new kickoff rules. Just revert it back to how it was. Seems to work just fine in HS and College. 3 Quote
