I just discovered this thread and haven't read through 19 pages of it, but...

The original statement is inaccurate. I'm not really sure what game the OP was watching.

Who kept Josh Allen upright? Who caught his passes? Who (besides josh) ran the ball to the tune of over 100 yards and two touchdowns? Who made fingertip grabs on two slightly overthrown balls at key moments? Who blocked for him on his QB keepers? Who called the masterful gameplan that helped him succeed? Who punched the ball out of Amon-Ra's hands? Who forced two 1st quarter three-and-outs, allowing the Bills to build a lead and make the Lions play catch-up all game?

I have complained many times in the past about Josh always having to put on the cape for the Bills to have a chance to win. I understand the sentiment. Beating the 12-1 Lions in their house, though, was a team effort. It was NOT just Josh. And speaking about this season in general, one of the main reasons Josh is having such a great year to begin with is because Joe Brady is doing an amazing job as OC. Furthermore, a higher percentage of the Bills passing yardage comes via YAC this year than it ever has in any previous year. He arguably has more help via scheme than he ever has before.

Josh is getting help this year. He DEFINITELY got help Sunday. You don't beat the 12-1 Lions with a one-man show. C'mon, man!

Some of you are just miserable.

We beat both current #1 seeds...

Josh is the best player in the league, of course we lean on him..

The rest of the offense stepped up big time

Our injured D did just enough to slow down the # 1 offense in the league

Great team win

I think the W/L delta between Josh Allen and not Josh Allen is far greater than the delta between Jordan Love and not Jordan Love. Isn’t Malik Willis undefeated as a starter this year for the Pack? The same Malik Willis that couldn’t complete a pass in Tennessee?

Probably the WORST example you could think of.

Burrow is a good example of a QB who needs to do everything and has failed. The Bengals are a playoff team with Josh right now imo. And I think very highly of Burrow.

Yea Willis is 2-0. I'm pretty sure the Bills could beat Indy and Tennessee even if they had to play a backup. We were dreadful for a half against Tennessee as an entire team and only trying for 30 minutes blew them out. Of course the W/L delta with Josh is higher than with any other QB right now because he is the best Quarterback in football.

That STILL doesn't make it "entirely Josh Allen."

YOU were the one who floated the idea he wouldn't have the raiders at 11-3. I disagreed...and the best you can come back w is 'that can't be proven wrong'😂😂😂

Just wait til he complains about talking about hypotheticals...... after he brought up hypotheticals. It's a classic.

You were the one that “went out on a limb”-  without actually going out on a limb.

My comment did what it was meant to do, as you followed suit.  Other than QB, you feel that the raiders team and coaching is equal to the Bills team and coaching.  Got it. 👍🏻

I appreciate this response, but I'm still surprised that many took the title of the OP completely literally.  Yes, of course - the O-line played well.  Cook had a great game. It was Brady's best game (imo).  There were some great catches.

But Allen is the one who still has to play near-perfect.  Even one INT in that game, and the outcome is in doubt. Anyone who watched that game nationally basically watched the Josh Allen show.  And this was on the heels of another game where we had to put 40+ on the board (and still lost that one).

Maybe we focus too much on Bills games.  When I watch the Chiefs, I see games where the defense carries the team, or special teams makes a huge play.  I can't think of any other team that week in & week out is so dependent on one guy playing near-perfect.

I mentioned this yesterday, but the defense didn't play all that bad despite giving up 42. They played well enough to help the Bills get a 35-14 lead. They also only gave up 21 after 3 quarters. That is not bad either against that offense. The 4th quarter definitely could have been better as they gave 21 points. But the Lions were making a big push to get back in the game. So, give them credit making it uncomfortable for the Bills and their fans.

His O-line ain't too shabby.

was it no sacks again?

Allen and the quality of his O-line are a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, he extends plays and that's hard on an O-line vs. a Purdy type who gets the ball out quickly and in rhythm.  It can make a decent O-line look bad.

On the other hand, Allen has become an absolute magician at avoiding defenders, with a gift for making them run into each other instead of him.  So he avoids many sacks, and that makes the O-line look better.  But they have to have an almost otherworldly awareness of where he is and how to interfere with defenders in order to help him escape without getting called for the block in the back or the hold.

The last few pages are kind of funny.

Regarding h the help he got this Sunday- take Ed Oliver out of that game and we likely lose.

I understand where you're coming from, but I still think it's off base with regard to Sunday, and to much of this season.

There have been numerous instances this season where the defense set the offense up with a short field. They just came off a string of how many games in a row where the defense forced at least one turnover?

Our defense held the Jaguars, Dolphins, Seahawks, Titans, and 49ers to 10 points a piece. Do they get credit for those wins? What about the Chiefs game? The Bills offense scored 30, yes, but the defense held the Chiefs to three scores.

Taking the example of Sunday's game, it could just easily be argued that if Benford doesn't knock the ball out of St Brown's hands, we lose. Or if Ed Oliver doesn't have 9 QB pressures, we lose.

I recognize that recently, the Bills defense has been struggling. But it hasn't been struggling all season. Prior to the Rams game, this Bills team has been playing good complementary football for most of the season.

I think that when a player is as incredible as Josh Allen is, it necessarily always looks like the team wins almost solely because of him. And that's not entirely wrong. It was that way with Peyton Manning's Colts, too. They certainly weren't a 12-wins-a-year team with Jim Sorgi under center.

I'm not going to go to the mat on this one - everything you say here is essentially correct.

The only thing I might counter with is that I don't care that much how our defense looked against teams like the Jags and Titans. I think our D feasts on teams like that, and they're not the teams we will see in January and hopefully February.  It's those teams I'm concerned about - and combined w/ our D's disappearing act in some previous notable playoff games, recent performances aren't giving me a lot of confidence.  I still believe in the old adage that "defense wins championships."

And we have a defensive HC.

Thinking back on starting this thread, it was probably less than a minute after that last onside kick from the Lions.  I was incredulous that I just watched a QB play the kind of game I thought we'd never see in Buffalo again after Kelly - just jaw-dropping - and it was still down to the wire.  I heard a few pundits this week compare it to something like a senior playing against the JV.  And here we are, at the end of a brilliant performance like that, biting our nails about a final onside kick.  I was just frustrated about that.  And maybe a Lions fan could say the same thing about Goff putting up 500+ and still losing, but man, it just seems like such a consistent theme w/ Allen.

I can agree with that.

Overall, the only defense I believe can stop Josh Allen in his quest for a championship this year is Sean McDermott's defense.

I agree with what you say: For being a "defensive head coach", the one constant theme in the playoffs every year under McDermott has been the failures of his defenses. Every. Single. Year.

The notion of pairing an elite QB with a ferocious defense SHOULD put you in realistic championship contention ever year. It did with Tom Brady, and it's doing so now with Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Only, for whatever reason, McDermott's consistently ferocious regular season defenses (top 5 or top 10 almost every year he's been here) turn into paper tigers in the playoffs. Until that changes, the Bills won't win a title. And if it doesn't change this year, they'll again waste an All-World season from the best QB on the planet.

This is by far the best RB and WR group Allen has ever had. The O-line is also very good.

I don't agree with this statement this year.

Sure for rbs but receIvers?  Cooper helps but he's barely part of the offense yet.
