He’s still underrated. Just look at the “it’s still all Josh Allen” thread. Josh is incredible and having his best year ever, but Cook is also a top 5 back. Top 2-3 in the AFC? That helps too, ask Thurman

I'd say he's realistically in the 12-15 range.  Still, pretty darn good.

Of backs in the league?

I’m sorry but there’s no way there are 12 running backs better than James Cook right now. He has 12 TDs and looks like AFC prime Kamara.

Barkley, Henry, Jacobs, Willams, Gibbs, Robinson, Jones, Robinson, Mixon, Kamara (still better than Cook), Taylor...would all have something to say.

He's not a top 5 back. He's a darn good player...but don't be a homer.

He's in the tier with Montgomery, Hall, Hubbard, Connor, Harris, Walker

I think there's something to be said for fit.  Cook fits the offense we run because we tend to spread teams out and his speed and pass catching fits what we are doing most of the time.  There's also something to be said for value.  It would be hard to get a better back for the price at this time.  We'll see how that shakes out when his contract is up.

He has more TDs than several that you mentioned and is now something like top 3 in yards per touch of all backs past several years, but yeah Kenneth Walker lmao

this is kind of my point. Cook is putting up top 5 numbers, this isn’t just me, and the response is still a tepid “eh not bad, top 15”. I don’t think that’s accurate anymore

Yeah, so 12-15.

Yeah LMAO, the same tier.  Walker has more rushing yards and TDs in 3 years.

Again, you're delusional.

lol delusional. This took quite a turn. Don’t ever rank running backs in the presence of Yoda

Also 3 years, not this year. Live in the now Yods

I have animosity towards him, I'll readily admit it.  He's certainly a very good player. But he's a liability in pass protection and dropped what I feel was a game changing TD against the Eagles last year, right in front of me.  That turned into an awful day at the Linc.  Again, it may be my bias, but I feel like he's dropped a number of TDs in critical spots.

I dare anyone on this board to try to break 16 mph.

3:45 pace is exactly 16 mph and I'm 49 years old.  Some turnover workouts from back when I used to run all the time.

Yeah he may actually end up having a better career fhan Dalvin.   Those boys can play ball.

Id bet less than 30 of the regular population here can do it sustained for a 400m.

Btw, it's always funny to watch the records of the watch on these being off just inches.

Also, what were your SPM there?

I couldn't do it for a 400.  Again I'm no spring chicken, I'm almost 50.  I ran a 1:09 400m and I've run a 5:50 mile.  Doing some workouts trying to run a faster 400 I've done strides where I hit low to mid 3 minute pace but I couldn't sustain that for a full lap.  So I can hit 16 (maybe 17 or 18 mph) but certainly couldn't sustain it for more than the backstretch of a track.  Strava doesn't have any step data that I can find.  Fun thing about Strava is the segments and the 400m at the local track.  For a while I was 4th fastest but every year a few more kids pick me off.  Now I'm probably 13th or 14th.

In any event, it's so nice having a back with breakaway speed. We just haven't seen that much over the years. You have to go back to, who, Spiller maybe? McGahee might have been as fast or faster before he was hurt. I just don't remember any back running away from the DBs like Cook does routinely.

Shady was pretty damn fast while he was here and certainly Spiller.  Although Spiller (for whatever reason) was great under Gailey and no so much with other OC's.
