The amount of Nickel usage in 2017 was pretty innovative and is something hes widely credited for (lol look at the wiki page for Nickel Defense).  You can neg on his defense (definitely earned) but he has definitely been innovative.  I would also credit him with showing the gameplan to stop 2019 Lamar, has had generally good success against Shanahan OC's (Rams game being the outlier really), and effectively employing odd mirror against Mahomes that other teams have started to use as well.

Didnt you listen to WGR and read some of the posts last week? "People who play Madden" are smarter than McD and can do a better job with in-game decisions.

To me, our D-line is lately pitiful, but McD is most of the time concerning, soon or later you know that he’ll do something stupid, when the game is on the line, he never fail with some of his boneheaded decisions. 
 

ps don’t forget our “wonderful” prevent defense, always giving cushions to WRs, always exposed in the soft spot and with zero pressure and sack at the QBs. We need to play with no fear on D, not like dolls. 
 

Dline played very well last night. Kept pressure on Goff and caused a handful of misfires.  Won the game in the trenches.
 

McD may not make decisions like fans want from him.  He has evolved to be even more of a players coach and corrects previous mistakes.  Oh, and he is in the midst of 5 straight seasons with at least 11 wins and 6 straight with 10 wins or more.  
 

Neither are a problem.

The Madden thing was a running theme with several calls and discussions and the point most certainly was that "people who play Madden" have a firm grip on clock management in the pro game.

WGR never insinuated that people who play madden are better than our coach.  Just never happened.
