HAPPY GAMEDAY, TBD!!! I have no clever admonitions for you today. Just do your job, watch your games, shovel your snow, clean your garage, or whatever you need to do today! And then be ready for another primetime "game of the year" featuring our Buffalo Bills football team! The bottom line is that when it's game time, BE READY!

Prediction: The Bills will prove who the real SB contenders are in this game. Bills win, going away.

Editorial Comment: The NFL would love these two teams to meet in the Super Bowl. That would be an excellent narrative for the league.

GO BILLS !!!!!!

Popped up in my feed today. Not often the NFL admits to a mistake in officiating.

The Detroit Lions edged out the Green Bay Packers 34-31 in a thrilling Thursday Night Football showdown on December 5. While the game had its share of highlights, a controversial moment stole the post-game headlines. Lions defensive end Za'Darius Smith delivered a forearm hit to Packers quarterback Jordan Love as he scrambled out of the pocket. The play went unflagged, sparking backlash from fans and analysts alike.

NFL Responds with Fine for Roughing the Passer

Following a post-game review, the NFL fined Smith $6,722 for "roughing the passer." The fine is a tacit acknowledgment by the league of the referees’ mistake in not penalizing Smith during the game. This incident highlights ongoing scrutiny over officiating consistency in the NFL, particularly in high-stakes matchups like this NFC North clash.

Za’Darius Smith: A Rivalry Rekindled

Smith’s history with the Packers adds an extra layer of drama to the story. A former Green Bay player for three seasons, Smith relished the opportunity to face his old team. After the game, he told sideline reporter Stacey Dales, “I came to Detroit and got my revenge.” Smith has now played for three NFC North teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, and seems to enjoy proving himself against his former squads.

While Smith’s fine draws attention, it’s not the first time officiating has been under fire this season. The missed call could have shifted momentum in a tightly contested game, but it also raises questions about the league's handling of such incidents. Fines may provide accountability, but fans and teams often wonder if stricter real-time enforcement could prevent these issues altogether.

Does the Defense make a statement this game to make up for last week? Or do they lay another egg?

Personally, I feel like the defense is the ONLY obstacle for winning a championship this year. McDermott coaching gaffes can be overcome if the defense can hold teams to 17(👀) points a game.

The Lions are a tough, well coached team.  They are going to get stops on Buffalo but I think the Bills offense will score enough if they don't turn the ball over.

The question is can the defense slow down the Lions running game and then disrupt Goff passing.  The Lions are very sound at the line of scrimmage and probably have the best OL in the NFL.  I'm hopeful but not overly optimistic.

This is gonna be a fun game to watch. At the beginning of the year I had this one as a loss. And Detroit is one of if not the best team this year and they play even better at home.

So, feels like this week we are playing with "house money" and if we lose, so be it. But a win would be really nice.
