Anybody that sits in a nickel zone for 80% of a game is going to get burned every year by decent qb's - sorry. that's just lazy coaching/planning. Doesn't matter the players, the scheme is not bad but it is not meant to be used all the time. If it  were me, I'd jumbo up, run the ball and send guys into the seams all day long, McVay gave out that blueprint btw as they amassed 427 yards but barley broke 300 against the 49ers.

All I'm saying is this - after we spot the usual 10-14 points to Detroit like we do everybody else, and watch the usually 1st and nothing up the middle a few times from the O combined with the screen out to Samuel for -1 yard, I'm pretty sure 17 will be putting on the cape before half time... hope I am wrong

Jeff wright was one of the main reasons we lost the superbowl. We picked Donte Hitner over Haloti Ngata. We have not had dominant 1T play since Pat And Ted. Yes Tom Brady won the Super Bowls but would he have done it without Vince Wilfork, Richard Seymour

The problem is that Sean won’t change things up against teams that can beat our “nickel” soft zone defense, our defensive coaches never have a viable plan “B” they won’t play three safeties when it’s the appropriate thing to do, for what, eight seasons now, we have watched the defense fall flat every postseason, yet our brain trust continues to trot out the same defensive game plan every post season and against teams that can and do run against us in the regular season, its like Groundhog Day over and over and…, it’s frankly frustrating as hell, I’m gonna start day drinking at this point lol 😁🍸🚬

Not saying anything earth shattering here but I absolutely feel like we need a true Myles Garrett, Chris Jones, TJ Watt gamebreaker type of player in their prime to be able to get over the hump as a true Super Bowl team.  I give credit to McDermott for being able to do more with less and a lot of the time that Defense combined with our potent Offense will be enough to win games.  But as we've seen against the Ravens and Rams this year and other games in past seasons there are times when our Defense can be exposed and chewed up.

Even if we had a game breaker they would only play 50% of the time due to our D-line rotation. Gotta get Epenesa his snaps against the run

I think we are seeing now WR wasn’t our biggest need. The current WR we picked hasn’t played in a while and the WR core is doing fine while the run defense has been poor most of the year

you could say it definately was one of them bcecause before amari we werent doing squat without keon and sometimes struggling with keon.

We lost super bowl 25 because when we were up 12-3 we had two golden opportunities to put the game away and didn't. The offense also played right into the Giants plan and wasn't patient enough.

We score on those two possessions and it's 26-3 , they can't play power football and Bruce/ Bennett turn it into a 45-17 type game and who knows how history remembers the Early 90s bills. Probably similar to the 70s Steelers

My memory may be fading but the giants ran all over us . We couldn’t stop the run. Jeff wright was getting pushed all over the field. NYG held the ball over 40 minutes, maybe maybe maybe about the offense. They ran it down our throat

Because the defense was exhausted. It was also a disgusting 3rd down defense

It should've been a blowout. Still hate when highlights of that game come on. It was a joke we lost

I feel we needed both WR and 1T. Keon is a young wr and will get better but he wasn’t getting it done until Amari came in.

Need a D line that looks like this during the Allen era and we will win multiple SBs

The current D line only looked close to this pre Von injury

The dline has had multiple games looking like this.

That was last year.

I'm talking about this season.

Also, despite them trampling our defense in that playoff game, they still only won by 3 points. It's not like they blew us out.

Literally everything went the Bills’ way…got every big call from the refs, plus Hardman’s fumble through the end zone, which would have put the game out of reach…and still lost.

The Chiefs trampled our defense in the home playoff game last year….8 yards per play!

So you’re discounting the fact that Buffalo held Kansas City to 21 points a few weeks ago?  It seems to defeat the original premise of this thread, unless you feel that offense with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce is “average to below.”

This season their offense hasn't been good. It's their defense that's carrying them.

They had their best offensive outing in any of the four playoff games they played. That includes their home win against the banged up Dolphins defense in the WC.

The Bills have handled the Chiefs in four straight regular seaon games. Important to note that the Chiefs offense has been statistically poor or average at best for two straight seasons now.

They need a good showing tomorrow which would be keeping a team like the Lions to around 30 give or take a couple points.

It is groundhog day every season. Sean's stubbornness and under sized D will get shredded in the playoffs by superior qbs/teams. He's too stubborn to make adjustments based on the opponent, like Belichick would do. And he'll ask Josh to be Superman and save the day inspite of his mediocre zone.

Rinse & Repeat

This logic is faulty for a few different reasons.  First you’re using the distributive property:

The Rams Scored 42 against the Bills + the Rams scored 12 against the 49ers = The Bills defense sucks.

It’s been proven time and time again that this doesn’t work in the NFL.

To your point other point, I’d agree that the issues on defense start at DT and extend to the DL.   I’m all for Buffalo upgrading and I’d be shocked if that’s not a major focus of the offseason.

I think the topic here is the Bills’ defense’s ability to stop (or even slow down) good offenses in the playoffs.  Last January’s result is arguably more relevant than the one this November, especially given the history between these two teams.  And yes, the Chiefs’ offense this year has been at best average.

I don't think that's fair.  At the time of the draft we desperately needed another WR.  This was before we landed Cooper.  But going forward we are pretty solid at receiver right now and absolutely should shift our top priority to a legit 1Tech or Edge Rusher
