Robert Paulson Posted December 14 Posted December 14 We have needed a true 1T for 12 years. We keep trying to fit a quick 3T in there but it never works. We need two actually. 1 Quote
Billzgobowlin Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I don't think anything changes. A 10-3 team that had off games isn't necessarily a sign of big issues. Milano and Carter will get back in shape. I think you will see more investment in DBs than dline. Quote
Lost Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I really hope the Bills don't just run it back again with our WR group. We really need a speedster to compliment what we have. Curtis Samuel isn't getting it done. But I do expect McBeane to go heavy on D this offseason. 1 Quote
HappyDays Posted December 14 Posted December 14 26 minutes ago, DrDawkinstein said: DJ costs $9.5M to keep, or $7.5M to cut. As long as dead money < cap hit, anyone is cuttable. My guess is Beane will do his patented "convince an underperforming player to accept a paycut" with DQ. According to Spotrac only $2.25M of his $7.75M salary in 2025 is guaranteed. You get him to accept a new salary of $5M fully guaranteed or something like that. In that scenario we actually save more on the cap than if we cut him and DQ earns more money than he would on the open market. Win/win. I would bet Beane very specifically structured the contract with this possibility in mind. 3 1 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I see a problem, being that regardless of who we bring on board in the offseason they will still be playing that near worthless soft zone defense the vast majority of the time against the best opponents, how many years of this teams D scheme not being able to compete against the best teams does it take before the lights go on for someone to realize it’s not working, and a modification of said scheme is needed? Always hoping for the best, GO BILLS!!! 1 Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Can we please stop wasting high draft picks on defense? No to the next Ed Oliver or Kaiir Elam. Yes to the next Keon Coleman or Dalton Kincaid. Time to load up Josh with as many weapons as possible. 1 1 Quote
T master Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I think with all those that might be leaving via FA and contracts that the D line is going to be a huge priority ! Ed needs to show the rest of this season that he's worth the money he's being paid too if he can't do that they need to trade him not only to free up some more cap but maybe add some draft capital too . NoSaint Posted December 14 Posted December 14 1 hour ago, JohnNord said: Yes, while I still think WR and CB will be a priority the emphasis is going to be on the DL. I’d assume that Miller is gone after this season. I don’t see them moving on from Oliver or Milano. Jones might stay if they can bring him back for a lower deal but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him gone either. I see AJ as being in the bubble. I can see them going either way with him. If the Bills don’t re-sign Amari Cooper to a short term deal they’ll really be in need of a new WR1. Same with Rasul Douglas. They’ve been mediocre at best when drafting Defense high in the draft. ultimately most of the deals are so new that you don’t save money and the guys are playing as expected. So AJE and Oliver are likely safe. I do not believe Milano will be even if he returns to form. You have to shift those dollars to long term cornerstone players when you have suitable replacements available. I like Milano but you have to move on even if he’s healthy and set to go. Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted December 14 Posted December 14 The entire DL is underachieving imo, if Groot didn’t have those 3 sacks in game 1 against the Cardinals he’d be at 3.5 sacks. Daquan Jones is a bust, Ed Oliver is invisible and AJ Epenesa is inconsistent. We need an infusion of talent along the DL from the draft, free agency or both. 1 Quote

Sure but it’s not like we are getting massive savings. Hes cuttable but are we gonna find another tub of goo to play 1T for $2M? Maybe. 1 Quote

We'll bring in a couple WRs, maybe even 1 in the draft. But our O is pretty set, and has been scoring 30+ every week. The next Dalton Kincaid isnt even going to see the field as a rookie #3TE. Re-signing Shakir and locking him up will be our big offseason move on Offense. 1 Quote

QB, obviously set. RB, set 3 deep TEs, set 3 deep WR is the only place we can and should add. But even then, between Coleman, Shakir, and Samuel (and Kincaid and Cook and even Knox), where are they even fitting? There is definitely a need there to backfill Hollins and Cooper. But it isnt like we cant field a complete and competitive team. 1 Quote

I honestly would be fine taking the same exact WR group into the season next year with one addition drafted between rounds 2-4 to keep the pipeline strong. If we don't re-sign Cooper then yes we once again enter the offseason with WR as the #1 priority. 1 Quote

Magox Posted December 14 Posted December 14 We need monsters in the middle of that defensive line and I expect that to be addressed with premium picks. They need 2. 1 Quote
